Naw, it was definitely McKenna. Thanks for the possible dignified escape hatch, but it was Drew McK. Yeah, those most recent comments tell me he's going to take some time. Frankly, the fact that we never got the "He's the best player in practice" quote (which isn't normally true but is often said) during the spring kind of signaled to me that we're not looking at a day one impact player. Why am I lost here? What recent comments and about whom?

Why am I lost here? What recent comments and about whom? seems very clear the reference is to Drew McK? True but there were just a few highly positive of posts of McKenna posted in this very thread just about the same time, so that threw me off when SF referred to recent discussions. I am not aware of these recent discussions, especially none that paint McKenna in a so-so light (or any light) in which inside information on how the players were looking was shared on this board. That’s a topic of interest to me so if someone could point me in that direction it would be much appreciated.

Why am I lost here? What recent comments and about whom? The video interview with Battle, I think? His comments weren't negative, but they weren't what you'd hear about a guy about to take the league by storm. "Drew McKenna, he came to us mid-year and it was a learning curve for him. But he's totally transformed his body during the time here ... He's a physical kid, he's a multi-positional guy. He's still learning. Technically, he's still a freshman even though he's been here in the program for a [half] year. He's made a huge jump especially physically, and now it's about transferring that to the court." Maybe Battle is intentionally downplaying expectations given how much Cooley's been burned, but on face value, this does not scream a guy they expect to be an impact player this year. I don't think this is bad at all, but if he were expected to make a big impact, I think we'd be hearing "he was one of the best players in practice last year" or "McKenna's on a mission, etc." That's all, though.

OK. As much as we would like every player to be an impact player, if McKenna played 15 minutes a game (averaging say 5 & 4 & 1), competently rebounded and defended, didn't look lost at either 3 or 4, and was ready to take over for Peavy next year, his year would be a resounding success

Okay, but did Battle really hype anyone in that q&a? No. One could claim that he could have been more generous to Fielder too but he kept it mid. He made sure to be thankful for Epps, Fielder and McKenna for returning and towards the end when the interviewer was trying to wrap it up with a question about Fielder and someone else, Battle made sure to talk about McKenna. To be perfectly blunt there was not much one could take from the interview, definitely nothing that was downplaying McKenna. "Still learning" is cliche coach speech that is tossed around for various reasons when the player is new. I am going to step back from this because at this point we are all making educated guesses or going with a gut feelings. But I have to say that from my perspective people seem to be projecting when it comes to McKenna despite nothing concrete to go by. At the same time Burks, who has not lit the world on fire based on any inside info provided by any of the Hoyas' sites or twitter, appear to be spotted as a starter who has huge upside because...he came from Kentucky?? That's my main gripe.

I hope we put an end to this thread, the title is so insulting to these guys ready to work to get Gtown back!!!!! The title is 2024-25 Roster Discussion. How is that insulting? Or maybe the moderators moved it from a different thread. I am not sure if I am tired from work and missing something, or if it just makes no sense. In any event, I am excited to see all of our guys play this coming November. I won't be able to attend Kenner and will happily read anything about it. I do wonder if Kenner's move to Howard (and thus Georgetown's lack of control), will result in more of the ganes getting put online. I know it's opened up a lot in the last few years, though, even while at Georgetown.
