After warning 7 games my prediction for the BE season is that we will have a winning record against the group including Seaton Hall, Villanova, DePaul, and Butler. Maybe just 5-3 but a winning record against that tier of teams. Against the next tier of teams including Providence, St. John’s, Xavier, and Creighton I think we steal 2 games for a total of 7 wines in the regular season. I will celebrate big time if we can win any of the games against Marquette or UCONN this year. Anything below 4 wins would be a real disappointment for me and getting 8 or 9 wins is possible but requiring some good breaks for us at several games. These predictions assume normal nicks and hurts causing some players to sit the rest of a game or miss a game, but no serious injuries causing lengthy absences. We have had that already with a few players and that will continue. It also assumes that a young inexperienced team gets incrementally better individually and a notch better in team chemistry, especially ar the defensive end. It does no assume that any of the subs, or Mack or Fielder, has a switch go off and the start playing at a significantly higher level. With the inexperience of this team that is certainly possible and could get us close to a 500 record, but I am just looking for incremental improvement.

Just saw where #10 Marquette is a 34.5 favorite over Stonehill.
Old timers will remember when we played Stonehill and what we called the patron saint of Hoya basketball, St. Leo's.

Providence looking good… except they have no answer to stop the 6’1” Oklahoma dwarf…

Definitely not good for the Big East. With that said, definitely increases our odds of winning 7+ Big East games so I'll take it.

We performed well as a conference LY and that yielded only 3 tourney bids. I bet we get at least that TY even with the poor performance.

It has been a brutal week for the conference. I can understand Creighton a bit with the loss of Ashworth. Do any of the other teams have a good excuse?
When I have watched Marquette they have looked awesome so far. Maybe they are the cream of the conference.
Regarding UConn, when you lose that much talent, how do you not avoid taking a step or two backward? They have been thoroughly dominant at the center position the last few years. Reed isn't bad but Johnson is underwhelming to me.

Although I suspect he will turn it around it is still nice to see him take a step back.

I just didn't see the UCONN pre-season rankings- as has been said, they lost a LOT of talent.

They delayed the game so I didn't see it so no idea when it happened and if it played any part. Probably some disappointment in playing in the 7th place game too. Looks like it was with 2 1/2 minutes left and he stayed in the game but went to the hospital afterwards for testing. Brutal tourney for them.

If there was ever a 'positive' year for the BE to be awful and hopefully find a way for our Hoyas to get a few extra wins as we build back up, this would be the year, right after signing the new tv deal and Uconn being jilted by the Power 5s again.

Well, this is probably about the best we will look in conference standings for quite some time… let’s enjoy it 😂

We knew the conference as a whole would be weaker with all the departures. Hopefully, we will do our part and have not sacrificed our chance at respectability for the sake of being young and home growing our talent for the future.
