Like 0-10 down the stretch. Game was in reach.

We probably lose anyways but that game was lost when Rowan sat and Epps went selfish in the first half. Cooley should be questioned on that.

Carter got hacked twice. Definitely won’t be any complaints about the officiating tonight. Ever since you started posting I suspected who you were. The last few games your comments about us getting the benefit of the whistles has sealed it. Welcome back. Why did you change your name? Did you get kicked off the board last year?

Seemed like Hoyas had problems scoring, but had 4 players in double figures, which is rare this year (most often 3 players at most).
Many Hoyas wide open and Epps opts for contested shots. In halves when he is mostly off ball scoring and quick passes to open Hoyas become more common and more players involved.
I liked what Styles was doing on both sides of the ball, as well as fielder in the 2nd half. Bristol and (oddly) Fielder were the two that were giving Carter problems on defense. Carter wanted on Epps who he could do what ever he wanted on. Styles was the leading rebounder with 8.
Again Hoyas were horrible with layups, 8 of 18. Many of those are contested and shouldn't have been considered. The 2 of 9 from 3 point land in the 2nd half really hurt as there were a lot of really good wide open shots.
Assists, only 6 total for the game, begs asking who doesn't understand the team game? Providence has 19 assists and were good at making the extra pass to the open uncontested shot.

Same results. Massoud and Heath heaving up wild shots, playing no defense and making lazy passes. Good to see Fiedler get time, the more he plays the more confidence he gets. As we all saw Epps gives away as much as he takes. His lack of discipline especially after the 5 minute mark where they were in reach was just so sad. Fieldler at least tried to play defense against Number 22, no one else seemed to have the stomach.

Are the BE standings pretty much locked in now? Do we get StJ twice in a week?

The measure of a coach is that the team is better at the end of the season than at the beginning. Is there anyone who believes this team is better? Can you name three players who are better today than they were in December? Maybe Rowan, perhaps Cook at time and possibly Fiedler if he had been given floor time. The way I see it, you have a core of three players, 4 with Styles and maybe, maybe 5 with Epps to build on. That is it! I will give the four recruits, that is 9, you still need 2 quality additions who bring experience, brawn and leadership.

I agree with your core 4 heading into next year. Sorber and Mulready will give good minutes, not sure we should expect much right away from the other two freshmen.

About what you’d expect. Providence has a championship level defense and we could not move the ball or do anything against it. They also have a bad offense, which kept us in for a while, but eventually the great layup parade of a defense will fold, and it did.
Just biding time until next year.

I'm as frustrated as everyone. What really bothers me is how Cooley failed to develop Brumbaugh and Fielder. From the get go those two should have been playing 25+ minutes a game. It is so clear to me that the more they have played the better they have gotten. Like I've said before, if Massoud and Heath were legit starters AND WEREN'T SENIORS then okay you work Fielder and Brumbaugh in slowly. But right now Fielder is a better player than Massoud and Brumbaugh is clearly our pg starter next year and probably the team leader for the next 3 years. To be honest, Cooley's failure to see this really scares me. Is he really the guy who will turn this program around? Okay fellow Board members please tell me I'm being too critical. Please walk me back from the ledge.

2 more to go.
And then the feeling of hope can creep back in again.
Thought the post-game presser is worth a watch. Said Fielder had his best game of season. Lauded Rowans pace and confidence on O, but Said his D and Vocal leadership needs a lot of improvement.
Talked about what needs to change for next season and he again mentioned "recruiting". But to me the key thing he added was that they badly needed to find a leader.
One of the big misses this season was finding an Alpha in terms of leadership. When Massoud is the best option - it's a problem. And it doesn't seem like the young kids are ready in that regard.

Please walk me back from the ledge. Honestly, it's a pretty standard development path. Ups and downs of young guys. A need to catch up to game speed. Physicality. Positioning. Seeing their biggest minutes and most positive development at the end of the season is what you're looking for. Can you nitpick on playing them more earlier? Sure. Heath and Massoud being awful magnifies that even more. But if they get smacked around by more physical guys and the team gets blown out of the gym anyway, I'm not sure that helps their confidence or growth in those minutes. Fielder held his own with Oduro for the majority of the 2nd half on both ends of the court. And now he has an offseason to make a leap. As for Rowan, if you think he's our starting PG next year, then we're going to be in this same position W-L wise. I hope you're wrong.

There were certainly moments of poor play, and Epps cemented any whisper of an idea that he can play PG. That being said, I like much of what I saw out there tonight. And go back & watch most of our earlier BE games to see if we have or have not improved. The ball movement is livelier, offensive movement is overall better, our defense tonight was better than decent, which for us is a huge improvement. If we hit 30-40% of our shots in the second half, we probably win. We hung in there, they never broke it open, we caused a bunch of turnovers. Drew played inspired ball at the offensive end -- I loved watching him back Carter down a couple of times. Excited to watch him grow and improve. There were a handful of layups by Provy but no layup parade - I thought we clogged the lane a lot and disrupted well. Could not hit shots in second half though. I love what Rowan, Styles, & Fielder (& perhaps Epps) will bring next year. Hate the loss but seeing shades of better, grittier play in longer stretches now.
