The results will look different after tomorrow’s finals. Connecticut, a large state school, and a couple other schools with great facilities, rack up points in the field events. The Georgetown men will probably compete on the DMR at NCAAs and there are several middle distance runners who have been competitive throughout the indoor season. Tinoda Matsatsa, a freshman, set an NVAA record in the 1000 and is in the top 5 in the 800. We have a slew of runners who have run under 1:48 in the 800 and under 3:58 in the mile. Joshua Paige set a new Big East record today on the 200. On the women’s side, Melissa Riggins and Chloe Scrimgeour have set numerous middle distance school records and the sprinters are having their best year in quite some time. My read on the program is that both the men and women have most of their strength in the middle distance events and will compete nationally indoors and outdoors as well. Our lack of field event participants puts us at a severe disadvantage when it comes to winning a Big East title. I think the Hoyas have a great group of coaches; the programs are in good hands and on good shape, IMHO.

I agree with all that RG has written. It looks as if the Hoyas are trying to compete on the national level. UConn will always defeat us in the conference, but I bet the Hoyas come out on top at the national meet. The men have about seven runners, who have broken 4 minutes in the mile. We are hoping that two individuals and a DMR will compete at the NCAA. And the women will have two runners at the national meet. It looks as if the coaches will be going after some top 400m runners and jumpers.

Both men and women remain at #7 in the regional rankings. And both are ranked 4th in the conference; men staying the same, women dropped one, although they were #3 in the BE meet. In the squad even the men move to #3 in the nation in the 800m and remain #6 in the mile. For the women they moved 8 places to #16 in the mile, 49 places to #36 in the 800m, and up 2 in the 3000m to #8.
