Can we rescind Marshal’s 2020 championship? We really should have won back-to-back if it wasn’t for the unfortunate timing of the season and all the players we lost to the draft.

So Georgetown, Denver, San Diego St and Stanford can battle for the “National” championship…. While I understand the sentiment, it quickly leads one to a rather awkward and unsavory place of trying to determine "how many foreigners is too many?" Presumably the answer is not "one foreigner is too many," else we would consider the national title Georgetown won with Giannis to be null and void (or, for that matter, the 1984 basketball title won with the Jamaican-born Patrick Ewing). But choosing anything other than >0 is inherently arbitrary.

Yikes!!! 0%!!! I wonder how scouting for international prospects works in college soccer. Do we recruit internationally? Maybe the next assistant coach hire can help in that area. Russky, is there a similar chart for Women’s Soccer?

Yeah, that one is a much more substantive issue, even accounting for the fact that you have players in the top ranks at a much earlier age in soccer than in most sports. I wanna run some of those numbers as best I can to see if the assumption that they're generally older holds true. Yikes!!! 0%!!! I wonder how scouting for international prospects works in college soccer. Do we recruit internationally? Maybe the next assistant coach hire can help in that area. Russky, is there a similar chart for Women’s Soccer? I have not seen such a chart for women's, but the 'talent curve' looks very different in the women's game, and also the US does a far better job of developing female soccer talent compared to other nations than in the men's game. If you listed to the Hoya Insider podcast with Wiese, he talks about how they generally only offer players whom they've seen play and gotten the chance to assess what they're like off the field as well (recruit the locker room first). Giannis was a notable exception to this - he sent them tape one fine day, and...well...not only did the tape play real well, but that's a last name that causes you to take notice. The biggest challenge with recruiting internationals is that soccer only has 9.9 scholarships, and given that they're not eligible for financial aid (including Federally-backed loans, which even fairly well-off Americans can get), they typically require a full ride to come over. That's not an issue if you are, say, the scion of Greek soccer royalty, but it's also less of an issue at a much cheaper and low cost of living institution like Marshall.

Yes, that makes sense re: US women. I remember watching those early 90s UNC teams and how beautiful they played compared to the USMNT of yesteryears. RusskyHoya, I’m going to pm you.

Whelp guess we're going to get every Providence team's best effort from here on out. Credit to the Friars, as usual - their style of play causes all sorts of problems for many teams, and they capitalized on this night.
The top two teams in the Midwest, Xavier and Akron, played to a scoreless draw. That helpfully leaves the Hoyas still on pace for the regular season title/tournament #1 seed, as they have 12 points out of five matches. Xavier is the next one back at 10 points, while UConn and Akron are tied for 3rd with 9 after the Huskies dispatched Marquette at home.
Creighton could've clawed their way back into the thick of things, but they suffered a 2-1 loss at Seton Hall to remain on 7 points.
