Really enjoy these interviews. Makes me hopeful for a team of guys who bring experiences and backgrounds that translate into on-court intensity & high level play but also having each other's backs and being good teammates.
Nobody made note on September 7 of the 2-month until opening night date. Just 55 days, people --let's go!

The pass @ the 1:40 mark is a thing of beauty.

The pass @ the 1:40 mark is a thing of beauty. A lot of tools! What a range on those 3-pters. With the lack of front court players, he will get a lot of pt. Hopefully, we can see a Cook/Ish/Drew lineup to see some mismatches.

We haven't had anyone his size who could make the shot he did at :44 or the pass he did at 1:40 for quite a while.

"The Ten Most Impactful Freshmen in the Big East for the 2023-24 Season... 7. C Drew Fielder, Georgetown The Buzz: Drew Fielder originally committed to Providence. He then de-committed and followed head coach Ed Cooley to Georgetown. Fielder has good size and is a skilled player on the block. He has good touch, with a feel for angles, and good footwork around the basket. The four-star recruit enters a situation at Georgetown where there is not much depth ahead of him on the roster, and word coming out of this weekend’s scrimmage is that presumed starter Ismael Massoud injured his hand. It will be interesting how Cooley moves the lineup around. Will Fielder plug and play into the starting group, or will he move someone like Dontrez Styles to the four and play smaller? Either way, Fielder is in the rotation with minutes staring right at him." www.on3.com/news/the-ten-most-impactful-freshmen-in-the-big-east-for-the-2023-24-season/

While I hope we get Massoud back as soon as possible, I want Fielder to play a lot this year, as we need him to get experience, so that when Mulready/Williams/Sorber/McKenna come in, he can slot in right in like with them. Massoud is a really good shooter, and an important piece for this season--but we only get him for one season. We have Fielder for longer (hopefully).

I just want one season of a Fielder/Sorber/McKenna frontcourt. Thomas and the Two Drews.

I really think barring injury or consistent foul trouble, almost everyone is going to play 10-15 minutes a game, if not more. We just don't have enough players to have the 5 minutes per game or less type of guy we would typically see at the end of the bench--because nobody is at the end of the bench. While I have generally been pretty positive on Cooley, I do think that not having 1-2 more scholarship players is not a good look. My hope is that we avoid injuries and our guys step up, so it doesn't ultimately matter, though. At this point, it is what it is--we cannot get new players, barring unusual circumstances or a graduate transfer--so we have to cross our fingers, and hope Cooley's strength and conditioning staff does a good job with our guys. In those 7 super easy OOC games we have, I actually think if we have big leads in the second half, Cooley should go to the walk ons perhaps quicker than normal. We simply cannot risk a broken hand or something like that, with 5 minutes left against Coppin State when we are winning by 30. It might cause our winning margins to be smaller than otherwise, but I think it's the prudent play.

Definitely agree there. It also seems like several of our walk-on players may be a slightly higher caliber than standard walk-ons. They’ll certainly be getting more run in practice.

Agree: Never understood putting a player in the game with 30 seconds left. iF you are up big, get players the experience even though you know mistakes will come or the lead will dwindle a little. Remember Hayes and Mourning.

Slide 2 of that photo set shows our chemistry is probably the best it has been since the Jt3 years.

Hopefully that pick and pop becomes a mainstay in the Hoya arsenal for 3 years to come.

A very nice end to the regular season for Fielder, look forward to seeing him progress next season.

A very nice end to the regular season for Fielder, look forward to seeing him progress next season. Based on what Cooley has told us; seems like his mobility was really affected by his knee issues. Good to hear that he’s the healthiest he’s been in sometime as it gives him the platform to really develop this off-season physically. Imagine a 6’10 Fielder with another 15 pounds of muscle and improved mobility? I think his ceiling is a better version of Freemantle because Drew embraces physicality and looks to give it out as good as he takes it. He will be a huge piece as an upperclassman but hoping we get a big jump from him as soon as next fall.
