Right now, I'm less concerned with how weak our weaknesses are and more concerned about how strong are our strengths. If we had the latter certain, then I'd move on. But I think we'll find a way around the center position (in terms of the success we might have next year) but if there's no real strengths out there - no outside shooting, no ball movement, no reliable creator or scorer ... it'll be lower down the list.

I wonder if he switched #s. He was the only one who made sense but he had been 20 in all previous clips.

Yes, it's got to be Fielder. Seeing Supreme Cook calling out lots of things on defense is great. Big difference from our mute approach under Ewing.

With the way K State fans talk about him he seems to be a stellar young man who will represent our university well. Congratulations Ish!

So does anyone have any actual insight into McKenna’s situation? Should we expect him on the bench? Is he still a full time high school student?

So does anyone have any actual insight into McKenna’s situation? Should we expect him on the bench? Is he still a full time high school student? I think that would depend on if McKenna is enrolled at Georgetown, in part, and nobody has been able to provide an answer to that question. It is still unclear exactly why he is not eligible (possibilities include not enough credits to graduate high school, not meeting Georgetown's requirements for entry (such as an SAT score), etc.), so it's hard to say. If not, or if he hasn't met NCAA requirements to play NCAA games, I highly doubt he will be on the bench. I would hope someone would ask this question of Cooley on October 4. But, these questions are sensitive and players do deserve some level of privacy. So, I would guess we won't get an answer. I am not worried in the sense that this happens when guys reclassify. But, we really could use an extra member of the frontcourt. I am hoping he clears and can join when the first semester is done in mid-December.

Is it worth burning a year of eligibility to play 2nd semester? Not sure what Drew’s thoughts are but would be surprised if he wanted to do that

Is it worth burning a year of eligibility to play 2nd semester? Not sure what Drew’s thoughts are but would be surprised if he wanted to do that That's a fair question. On things like that, I always yield to the player himself and the staff to make the best decision for that player. As fans, our self interest is likely to get him into a uniform and on the court as quickly as possible, particularly given that the odds any single player will play for 4 seasons at this point is much lower than it used to be. One difference here is that McKenna reclassified specifically so he could start sooner. That makes me think he would start in December if he could. In reality, if McKenna is practicing with the team, if he misses the mostly cupcake games in November and then a few games in December, that's really not missing all that much. He's still be playing/on the roster for most, if not all of the Big East season. So, I don't think missing a month and a half is really that bad a deal.

BartTorvik's latest GU projections: barttorvik.com/team.php?year=2024&team=GeorgetownI'm not a big fan of these sites as predictor models, especially in the pre-season. But these rotation numbers (in mpg) aren't terrible overall: PG - Epps(25.6), Brumbaugh(14.4) SG -- Heath(32.4), Epps(5.2), Bristol(2.4) SF - Styles(21.2), Bristol(18.8) PF - Massoud(27.6), Fielder(8.0), Styles(4.4) C - Cook(26.4), Mutombo(12.0), Fielder(1.6) Notes: -- BT still has McKenna on there w/ 3.2mpg. I took his minutes and gave them to Fielder (who looked a little low @ 6.4mpg) -- The site doesn't actually do a positional breakdown. I just did that by the totals based on what made sense. -- Heath leads in mpg. I'd be surprised if it actually weren't Epps, but Heath will be in the top 3 no doubt. Depends mostly on Rowan, I'd guess... -- Brumbaugh supporters will likely be disappointed by ~15mpg for Rowan, but that feels about right for me to begin the year. Let him play his first minute of college ball. If he crushes it, he'll get more time.

Historically I don't think we have done that great with the reclass. I think you are just asking a lot of a young kid although I know training now for high school prospects is much different. I'm thinking of Domingo and Hollis Thompson here. It definitely didn't work for Domingo and for Hollis it was OK, but I don't think the time he gave you his first year really was a net positive and it would have been nice to get the better player in year three and four. Now unfortunately there is no guarantee of a year three or four. I'm sure McKenna is a different can of worms altogether with each case being different. With our size void I am sure he could contribute some and learn from some of the guys like Cook & Massoud.
