Probably gonna see alot of a Brumbaugh, Epps, Heath, Styles, Massoud lineup also. This has good potential to be the worst D1 defensive lineup in the country. Cooley cannot be realistically considering this.

I don't know what anyone is worried about regarding our front court. Paul Westhead would be proud. Supreme averaged 131 points last year.

Hard to know just how optimistic we should be. I know we're predicted to fall just south of the middle of the pack, and I know that that would be just wonderful after the last 2 seasons. However, it is more and more evident to me that everything comes down to just how good a coach EC is. We lack serious minutes at the 5 and have a small front court anyway. So we play Villanova small lineup ball, right? Looking at the video of Bacote and Kazor, it looks like we have plenty of capable shooters from beyond the arc. So maybe we'll live and die by the 3 on offense? Defensively it's hard to tell with all these new faces and walk-ons, but Cooley has never been the kind of coach who tolerates weak play on defense. I fall back to having faith in EC, his assistants, his strength coach, the whole bunch he brought with him from Provy and in their ability to mix and match, hoping the OOC games will give them enough to formulate a foundational plan for BE games. Mostly I'll be happy that we are competitive and ecstatic if we surprise a bunch of teams from above the middle of the pack.

What do people expect in year one of a multi-year rebuild? Tip the ball and play! I just look forward to the games starting again in November. Zero wins or thirty wins...I will just be glad to see the Hoyas play basketball.

I completely agree - Cooley is building from the ground up. We need to try to enjoy the growing pains, seeing young guys develop.
Having said that, I do hope we get some positive update on Drew McKenna soon. He's someone we could use both in the now and certainly the future.

I love the way is not just going aggressive in the Transfer Portal like some teams and is gaining current and future good HS recruits. One thing that must be done is that NIL is funded because if a lot of our freshmen this year and next play well, there will be a bidding war. Open your checkbooks and get a very good NIL officer.

Next year, anyone who has not already transferred once will become fair game. Whether exercised depends on how well we treat them in toto

People on this board will be losing their sh** if this team isn’t winning a lot games.

Call me crazy but I think the Hoyas will do well this year (10-10 in BE) mainly because: 1)for the first time in the last 5 years they will have a real college basketball coach and; 2) for the first time in 5 years they will have a player (Rowan Brumbaugh) who seems more committed to winning than to padding his stats with an eye on the NBA. I can't say how much I was impressed by Rowan at Kenner. The kid, even in the Kenner rec league setting, was obviously looking to set up the offense, find open teammates, make every possession count, and WINNING. Plus on defense he understood where he belonged on the court and was always looking for the deflection or steal. Plus, he plays with a poise that we haven't, in my mind, seen since Otto Porter. In fact I'd predict that as Rowan goes so does the Hoya season. Yes we have some roster shortcomings but I think Rowan is the kind of player who makes everyone better. Think Jon Wallace. Finally, I think his value to this team will be the fact that he's the kind of player the Ewing would never have recruited or if Ewing did would never have meshed with the guys Ewing did.

I usually am on the opposite side of your opinions but we agree on this. I think we'll be 8-12 at worst. 11-9 at best. We have great perimeter shooting and a coach with a proven track record of knowing how to adjust in game. Other coaches laude him for the fact that he can be competitve with less of a roster than most

Finally, I think his value to this team will be the fact that he's the kind of player the Ewing would never have recruited or if Ewing did would never have meshed with the guys Ewing did. I have tried to be tempered in my enthusiasm for Brumbaugh after watching him play in Kenner this summer. His transfer to Georgetown did not receive much attention from the college hoops media. He was a four star recruit, but did not play during his freshman red shirt year at Texas. Most writing/podcasting about the coming season about the hoyas focuses far more on players like Epps and Heath. I feel like even players like Cook, Massoud, and Styles have gotten more attention. But based on what I saw this summer - Brumbaugh is far and away the team's most critical player. He was great this summer. And great in the best way - he made his teammates better with his combination of strong passing vision plus decent outside shooting and solid ability to attack the basket off the dribble. I'll go as far as saying that Brumbaugh looked like the best true point guard (in Kenner play) for the Hoyas in the 15+ years I have been attending regularly. Chris Wright was very good in Kenner play, but as more of a scoring point guard than a more pure "set up his teammates" point guard. Same for Starks. Wallace was a great Hoya -but his game was nailing threes and playing smart. He did not have nearly the passing vision Brumbaugh showed, nor the off the bounce athleticism. But I have been hesitant to get too optimistic - because I have not seen anything resembling this optimism in the media. And even Cooley has been pretty measured - the one comment I clearly recall was something like "I look forward to seeing how hw performs in real Big East games". Which is a fine and reasonable position -but not an expression of the kind of more extreme hopefulness that I felt in watching Brumbaugh play this summer. So it is good to see another poster express this kind of strong optimism about him. I have said this before- but his style of play reminds me of a more athletic, better shooting version of Tyler Kolek. Who served as the catalyst for Marquette performing way above expectations last year. I am holding out at least some small amount of hope that Brumbaugh might play a similar role for us - not necessary pushing us to an NCAA tournament team level (although that would be great!), but maybe allowing us to approach .500 level in BE play. We'll see what happens - but I know that Brumbaugh is the player I am most eager to watch this coming season, to see if he can provide that "he makes everyone else better" element that the Hoyas need to start their ascent from the bottom of the conference standings.

We would all like more (better) but I think we need to temper expectation a bit and trust that Cooley is doing this the right way and building a good foundation to start. We all wish to win them all, but after the horrors of the last few years, I look to be pleasantly surprised and pleased this year, even while hoping and clawing for more.

I thought Terrell Allen was a good PG for us when given the opportunity. James Akinjo had talent, but was the epitome of selfishness.

Man, I love the enthusiasm on your part! I think it reflects an honest opinion from the heart! I know it is so hard to get jacked about the team, especially after the dismal performance of the last five years. Five years in the wilderness will cause even the most staunches fan—like me—to grow weary. I believe we have shaken off the ghost of the past five years with a relationship-building and winning coach. It seems to me this has also helped our recruiting. Love the guys we have brought on board!
I just want us to be competitive! Anything beyond that will send this fan jetting into the stratosphere line the guy in that Michael Jackson video!
