Please, please, please, get rid of this train wreck of a coach. Why had it lasted this long anyway. If they don’t fire him they are completely an academic only school. I am beyond mad it’s got me so mad I can’t watch them anymore. I’m just tuned out the last 2 years. And I was a diehard Hoyas fan it just took it out of me to watch them loose so much I couldn’t stand it. Please fire Ewing please.

We are no longer a basketball school. It’s been quite some time now.

We are no longer a basketball school. It’s been quite some time now. Then we should leave the Big East and let some other program reap the benefits of playing in a high major conference. It’s completely selfish to have that attitude yet continue to accept the money associated with being in the Big East.

I will be at the A10 tomorrow as my daughter is a freshman at VCU. VCU would destroy us.

Where have I heard this before? At some point, let the other threads speak for themselves as they have.

Honestly at this point every thread should be the same until there is change. Respect you very much but enough is enough.

So, no breaking news overnight? The longer it takes, the worse it gets.

If Syracuse can dump Boeheim a few hours after a tournament loss after 47 years of coaching, several FFs, a NC, and an overall winning season, there’s absolutely no reason we can’t dump the current worst coach in college basketball (quite possibly the worst coach in college basketball in a decade or two) immediately. The longer we stall, the less serious we look about actually wanting to compete. I have zero confidence in the ineffectual “leadership” at Georgetown. I have read four national articles this morning alone about how pathetic we are. Although the authors of the articles couched their language, the message was abundantly clear.

I am angry that he didn’t have the gumption to step aside last night.. “ Sorry, I have completely failed my players, my boss and the Hoya community.” That’s what a leader does. Making the school fire you and likely demanding a contract buyout be honored is OK for a middling coach, but sorry, an abject failure like this requires self awareness and responsibility taking. Don’t tarnish your legacy any further - Be a mensch and resign

I look at it as Syracuse made their announcement quickly because they had the replacement all set up and could announce both at once. The last thing I want is for us to come out this morning and say....Patrick Ewing has "stepped down" as head coach, now welcome our new coach...Mike Brey! Mr. "2-18" replaced by Mr. "3-17"....wow, big upgrade!
Most of the guys we want are still coaching basketball teams in tournaments, so a delay in announcing doesn't worry me....yet.

I think the issue isn't "I'm worried it won't get done". The question is why not? Judging from everything we've seen, this has been baked in since January - you had two months to try to make nice so that we could exit gracefully with a you-keep-your-money-you-announce-your-resignation, and DeGioia didn't get it done. I don't know if this was because they couldn't agree or because DeGioia wanted to play money saving chicken with Ewing. The money saving chicken game is over though. DeGioia lost. Get it done now.

Yeah his quotes postgame certainly don't make it seem like they've actually had the conversation yet, which is wild. Rationally he can see it coming, but I didn't take his comments to show he's already been shown the door. Sad situation all around JDG needs to have the meeting and then get the hell out of the way for this hire. This is a complete mess. Glad that the media are beating the drum as well

We are all reading the tarot cards but his words could just as easily mean he was already told. He would be honored to come back but already knows that isn't happening.

And just another example of why we need to s&^$ or get off of the pot. Do we want to be a legacy program forever, having someone even remotely tied to the Thompson family in perpetuity??!? Is winning even important? If THIS is the road THEY want to go down, then JD should do us all a favor and petition the Patriot League or CAA for membership because we don't deserve to be in the BE. At least we could be moderately competitive...maybe. "Cooley's daughter is at GU and he loved Big John so we HAVE to hire him!" Are the folks at UNC hoping Dean Smith's great grand kids want to go into coaching if or when Hubert is fired? Our most hated rival fired a guy (who built THEIR program) a few HOURS after losing yesterday! Yes, they had a replacement but good Lord, if 'Cuse can do it, we should have the balls too....with a replacement or not. Go bold and cut the cord. I LOVED JT Jr. but the man has a building and a statue. HE built it but his greatest player burnt it to the ground. And his youngest, whatever role he plays when he's not broadcasting, is partly to blame. ...sorry, had to get it off my mind. 40 plus years will do that to a person I guess....

It’s time to move on. And that goes for FS1 too. Can we please have a broadcast that doesn’t talk about the Sweater Game or Michael Graham or whatever else from forty years ago? Let’s hire somebody who gives the media some successes today to talk about instead.
