On back to back to plays with about 2 mins left Spears gets the ball and tries to drive to the rim, not looking to pass, takes on at least 3 Providence players and misses the layup Very next possession Murray get the ball and tries to drive to the rim, not looking to pass, takes on at least 3 Providence players and misses the layup
That needs to be addressed, can't have players put their head down like Russell Westbrook trying to get to the rim thru multiple defensive players The game was out of hand but that is 4 to 6pts just thrown away.

Georgetown covers for the 6th straight game to keep the streak alive.

Deleted: we indicated in a prior game thread that suggestions that refs were intentionally influencing games are inappropriate, will be deleted, and risk immediate posting suspensions.

So hard to watch these games. 8 page game discussion thread. I wonder if DFW keeps stats on shortest game discussion threads.

The mercenaries did the same thing at the beginning of the game. Clearly that is the offensive gameplan and the coaching staff has no problem with it. It’s hard to blame the players when they don’t get benched for playing like that.

Ezewiro continues to impress on offense while remaining one of the worst defenders I’ve ever seen Ezewiro actually showed something defensively tonight I think the team is just poorly on the defensive end. Bradley often does defend well. But, he has lapses. He doesn't draw help, but he helps others (rather than Wahab always needing a helper). Bradley's biggest defensive problem is positioning one his man, he isn't always between his man and the basket properly, nor keep the hand in front to deny a pass. He's good, but can be much much better.

Quite frankly, I would just watch classic Big East games from You Tube until they get that mess figured out. I had a Big East game on from 1989 before I left for work and it was Syracuse at Georgetown at the Cap Center, I never did see who won but with Nova being pretty bad this year, I been looking at some of my older games that goes back to 1983 and watching the classics.

Its amazing since Ewing was such a good defensive player but coaches like he has never been a part of a good defensive team.

Get over it, we are outclassed and pretending we can contend. We simply cannot. A flawed roster, little basketball IQ but we continue to spend funds on a program not worth funding. Ak the Athletic Director what he thinks. He won't tell as he is an administrator trying to save his job.

Bizarre stat of the night: Bristol played 20 minutes (scoring 0 points) while starter Jordan Riley played 11 minutes and Jay Heath played 16. While Heath had a poor shooting game (1-6), what did Bristol do to get so much playing time compared to Riley and Heath?

So hard to watch these games. 8 page game discussion thread. I wonder if DFW keeps stats on shortest game discussion threads. Creighton game a week ago was hair short of 5 pages on the day of the game itself — page added the following day(s). Since that was a home game, I’m betting many of us were at the game, helping explain the brevity relative to tonight…

This game was really more of the same. Bad defense. Bad offense consisting of Spears taking long twos with 20+ seconds left on the shot clock (in one instance it was 24), and no organized basketball on either end.
The final score truly doesn’t even come close to indicating how far out of this game we were. Providence is on a different planet than Georgetown. I’d be very happy if somehow the Georgetown powers that be wrestled Cooley from Providence. But that’s unlikely.
Our program is just in an very depressing state right now.

Live in CT and am just back from seeing the game in person, so I haven't read other posts yet. Feeling totally discouraged by this game, how we played, and how ineffective the coaching staff is. Cooley had full or 3/4 court pressure on the whole game - it slowed us down and we never did much to make them pay. Ezewiro was wide open for a few seconds near the basket a few times as Primo and Murray threw it back and forth to each other until they crossed the center line. Never seemed to look up the court. Never saw a set play to break the press for any open shots. (It's not like we don't have plenty of film of teams doing that to us -- why not learn from that? There's only one thing worse than watching Primo play ME ball (lots of dribbling, juking & jiving until he creates space and put us a difficult 2 point shot, and that's watching Murray do it, too, but not as well.
Went into the half down by 9 and the second half was just like the first. Other than swapping out players and playing man-to-man once or twice, I saw no significant adjustments or strategy change after halftime. So damn discouraging because we ere in the game up to 4 minutes left, and any team with our players who had a plan could have maybe climbed back into this one at any number of points during the game.
Just going to say it: I won't mind seeing Murray go after this year unless he is better -- stop turning the ball over, make his foul shots, and lead with less whining and bad body language. Don't know if Primo is starting to check out of this season, but he just seems blah overall. Love Ezewiro's game -- I think he has really improved. Hope Bristol is back. Really hope Riley and Akok are back. Would love to have Anglin and Bass and Mutumbo to see what they can do with regular minutes. Can't tell if Primo is all about Primo, but if he moves on, then maybe Heath becomes PG and we build from there.
Please, please, please -- Pres. Jack, Board members, and donors -- PLEASE get clear-minded and smart. Announce Ewing's and Ronny's and the whole MBB staff if you have to -- announce their stepping down. Start the search, and do this right!

The half court defense is bad, but even when the half court D is less than awful - our terrible offense provides fuel for the opposing offense. We take so many awful shots/commit so many sloppy turnovers that both lead to easy transition opportunities for the opponent. The big run that kills us every game (Providence had a 14-1 run midway through the first half) are always fueled by terrible offense that produces quick dunks/3s in transition that allow the other team to pile up a big scoring run in just a few minutes. You can see these runs coming every time - the other team scores twice in a row, we panic and force a bad shot or commit a dumb turnover, the other team gets a transition dunk/3. Then it happens a few more times as we sink deeper into panic mode, and suddenly we are down by 15 points in the matter of less than 5 minutes of game time.
This has been the core script for this team over the last two seasons. Nothing reveals how bad our coaching is more than the fact that this scenario has played out literally dozens of times over the past two years. No competent coach would allow this same pattern to happen over and over.

Keeping the game around 10 is not the same thing as staying in the game. We are not competitive in this game at all. The narrative should not be “Georgetown is more competitive than their record.” Basically we are a non competitive team against the really good teams in the conference. X, Provy, Quette, and Creighton will keep us at arms length during our games. The rest of the league we are actually competitive against. We will be in the game and then find a way to blow it in the last 2mins. UCONN is the only good team that we have been competitive with 🤷🏾♂️
