Recording the DePaul Creighton game to watch later. If Creighton -- even in all its struggles -- doesn't beat DP by absolute minimum double digits, but closer to 20, I'll know we are in trouble.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

DP scrappy but careless TO's & streaky shooting have Creighton up by 14 with 11 mins left.

DP won't go away. In bonus now and they shoot the FT well. Also not a bad rebounding team and play a physical game. Could be easy pickings or could go off on us with 3's and the P & R. 13 down with 2:30 to go.

Blue Jays win by 15. DP does not shoot well but they fight. Creighton is still struggling to get back into top form, but DP gave them a pretty good go today. Sloppy ball on both sides. DP will challenge us.

Based on DeGoia’s comments, he’s looking for any reason to keep Ewing/Ronny. We don’t want him to have any reason. This program can only be saved by the team becoming an record-breaking embarrassment

Let’s just say if we lose this game I think we’ll set a new level of outrage on here… DePaul is the better team and we are playing away, so nobody should be surprised if we lose. That said this is one of the more winnable games we are going to play all season. If we are going to get a couple or a few wins, this could be one.

From the front page:
Georgetown may not have a better week to end its 22 game losing streak against Big East opponents in games Thursday with DePaul and Sunday versus Butler.
The Blue Demons have lost four of five and are 0-2 in Big East play following a 80-65 loss to Creighton on Christmas Day in Omaha. "The Georgetown offense most definitely should have the upper hand on the DePaul defense in this matchup." writes Haslametrics.com, which nonetheless has DePaul as a one point favorite based on turnovers and home court advantage. The Blue Demons have won three of the last four meetings between the schools at Chicago's Wintrust Arena, whose per game average of 2,749 a game this season is even less than Georgetown.
Sunday, New Year's Day, the Hoyas welcome Butler to Capital One Arena for what is likely to be another small turnout. The Bulldogs are 0-2 in Big East play with losses to Creighton and Connecticut, and could well be 0-3 after a game Thursday versus Providence. Despite its struggles, however, Butler ranks 73rd nationally in effective field goal percentage, while Georgetown is 233rd. Butler has won six consecutive games at Capital One Arena since the 2015-16 season, three in overtime.
If not this week, the losing streak faces some tougher competition moving ahead. Home games with Villanova (Jan 4) and Seton Hall (Jan. 10) are matched by road games at Marquette (Jan. 7), Villanova (Jan. 16), and Xavier (Jan. 21), three sites where the Hoyas are a combined 1-12 in games under head coach Patrick Ewing.
Georgetown opens the week at a program-low #231 in the NCAA NET rankings.

The Butler game should be the latest line in the sand, right?

What a great gesture! Are Patrick and Ronny also chipping in or are they just taking from the program? Or, why not just keep giving tickets away for free to all fans until GU wins something?

This kid has been a positive addition to the program since he signed his LOI. I am certain that Ewing has his reasons for not playing him but I have truly never seen him play when he looked considerably worse than the options in front of him on the bench and in the rotation. His offense is better than Wahab or Bradley, his rebounding probably worse and he probably is better at blocks, though slow-footed and often out of position on defense. So should he start? No, but he should not be shoved to the other extreme of never playing either. Coaches recruiting a 7' 4* player who needs development have some obligation to actually try to develop the kid or encourage him to go somewhere else where he might get the opportunity lacking with the Hoyas. While I have no idea what goes on in practice, assuming he is putting in the effort and making a commitment to learning, then complete development involves minutes in the game, particularly those games where the two in front of him are not performing, have foul trouble or need a rest, none of which have been extremely rare occurrences.

Ryan should play between 20-30 minutes on New Year's day!

I agree with all of this. Because of work being horrible and then the holiday, I've largely been checked out of HoyaTalk for the last week, but Ryan really does seem to have potential and has played fine (sometimes well) in the few chances he has gotten. I'm sure it's discussed in the Connecticut thread, which I have yet to catch up on, but playing Wilson in lieu of Mutombo in that game was just bewildering.

Barring the announcement that Ryan is transferring, injured or not playing for an undisclosed reason, his absence on the court is inexcusable. He played pretty darn well last season. Yes, he's a little slow -- probably still growing into his body -- but he has good hands, has some offense and can rebound and block shots ... he's 7 feet tall and a Mutombo! It's crazy that Wilson got into the game. Crazy.
