$$$ as a measure of enthusiasm? Trump is already losing to Biden in a big way President Biden’s reelection campaign reported Wednesday that it has $71 million in cash on hand — more than double the $33.5 million that Trump’s campaign reported having. If you throw in the bank balances of affiliated groups supporting the candidates, Trump’s campaign liquidity rises to $42 million — but Biden’s soars to a stunning $155 million, a ridiculous amount for this point in the cycle. It makes me wonder about all those stories telling us how unenthusiastic Democrats are about Biden’s reelection. I’m starting to think that maybe — hear me out — we should pay less attention to what people say and more to what they actually do. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/03/21/trump-biden-fundraising-2024-campaign/

I’m not enthusiastic about Biden. But I’m very enthusiastic about avoiding another Trump presidency. I imagine a lot of donors (and ultimately, voters) feel the same way. They might not be thrilled about sending an octogenarian back to the White House for four more years, but they know the alternative is much worse, so when push comes to shove, they’re on on Biden.

That's about where I am. An octogenarian who is not a psychopath is preferable to a soon-to-be octogenarian who is. Not to mention a racist, fascist, xenophobic misogynist. The latest testimony released about the WH valet who testified that the psychopath had no visible reaction when told that an insurrectionist had been killed is chilling.

Until he decided that it played well with his base to characterize her as a hero and a martyr, of which she is, of course, neither.

It was a telling moment in abortion politics: A federal judge in Texas last year moved to cut off the most popular method to end a pregnancy — and Republicans skipped the celebration. The reason for the muted response to the ruling, which suspended federal approval of the abortion pill mifepristone? Republicans didn’t want to talk about it because the abortion issue had already stung them politically. They were the proverbial dog who caught the car. They finally got the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade after decades of trying, and they soon found that Americans didn’t much like abortion rights being curtailed. But starting Tuesday, it could become significantly more difficult for Republicans to ignore the electoral liability. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/26/why-supreme-court-abortion-pill-case-is-so-fraught-right/

The seat was open because the Republican who vacated the seat was engaged in election fraud. Election fraud is real, and Republicans apparently love to engage in it and project their misdeeds onto Democrats.

My immediate reaction to the Trump-Bible story was to think of Jesus throwing the money-changers out of the Temple. I didn't even realize the alignment of the liturgical calendar. I don't know whether to blame that on incompetence, or if someone on the team realized that and they're all laughing about milking cash from "suckers and losers."

I don't know whether to blame that on incompetence, or if someone on the team realized that and they're all laughing about milking cash from "suckers and losers." Many of the evangelical associations that appeal to MAGA Land do not recognize any liturgical calendar, under the premise that it's not in Scripture. No crosses (certainly not a crucifix), no vestments, no pews, just a lot of high energy music, a prosperity gospel, and day care for the kids. Some of these unaffiliated churches are as much houses of entertainment than places of prayer and reflection. www.lakewoodchurch.com/

Gloves off. About time. Joe Biden’s presidential re-election campaign labeled Donald Trump “weak and desperate” and “feeble, confused and tired”, after the former president and presumptive Republican nominee appeared in court and then spoke to the press in New York. "Donald Trump is weak and desperate – both as a man and a candidate for president,” said James Singer, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign, on Monday. “He spent the weekend golfing, the morning comparing himself to Jesus, and the afternoon lying about having money he definitely doesn’t have." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/26/biden-trump-new-york-court-hearing

MAGA GOP voter suppression effort effort in Montana squashed. Montana’s highest court on Wednesday struck down four laws that the state’s Republican-led legislature passed in 2021 to restrict voting. The Montana Supreme Court declared the laws unconstitutional, siding with a district court judge who ruled against them in 2022. The laws “violate the fundamental right to vote provided to all citizens by the Montana Constitution,” according to a summary of the majority opinion that was signed by four of the seven justices. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/27/montana-supreme-court-voting-laws/

This man and his family are out to destroy democracy. Period. Unfortunately a large portion of his supporters lack the insight to realize what they are really signing up for. The others are looking to get rich off of it. Truly disgusting. Could be agents of Stalin as much as Putin. If you aren’t doing whatever you can to prevent these people from getting into office again you are un-American. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/28/richard-grenell-trump-envoy-serbia-guatemala/

I'm just surprised that this wasn't Harold J. Trump's (that's a reference to The Music Man, for you youngsters out there) pitch: Hey, everyone! Get your Bibles, personally autographed by Jesus, for only $2,000 each! Order now, as supplies are limited! This is a one time offer, so hurry! HURRY!

This is all so draining. Elvado (or others), do you have a bridge too far? Is it 95 felony charges so 91 is all good? You're sticking with the (lie), "I'm writing in" my vote? If so, have at it. At what point do you folks start rebuking the death of your former party and find your collective backbone to make a stand? If it's not now, when? I can only surmise that the answer is never since your former party doesn't actually stand for any of the things you folks say you support. Fiscal conservatism? No. Family values? Nope. Is it just the authoritarianism, xenophobia and racism that you like? Or, do you only like one or two of those things? Your exceedingly tenuous grasping to the Biden mental capacity or truthfulness part is hilarious and pathetically transparent.
*Edit: Elvado, I don't mean to target you specifically. But, sadly, you're the only poster that seems to respond from the Right (RIP, EasyEd). FWIW, I respect that you do even if, at times, I vehemently disagree with your views. Please continue to post even if it seems as though you're peeing into the wind.
