Luckily for the players, the Saudis aren't lacking in cash because, IMO, there's not enough interest in golf in general for the Whore Tour to generate any profits.

And the list of American whores seems to be growing, which comes as no surprise. But then again, if I had Hefty's gambling debts, I'd probably sign up, too.

Mickelson has always been a bit of an arrogant d-bag. This won't help his legacy any. But, clearly, he doesn't care about that. I'm not sure how many private jets one guy needs but, apparently, Phil is at least one short in his estimation. And, I guess, he'll take another from wherever he can get it. That said, there are formerly beloved players that play on the Senior Tour and nobody watches that. I can't imagine there are many that are going to go out of their way to watch the likes of whiny a-holes like Bryson Dechambeau and Sergio Garcia play for "titles" of no regard to any PGA fan. But, at least a bunch of guys that realize they have next to no shot at winning anything are getting paid, I guess.

I agree with you; I doubt that these tourneys will get much of an audience in the US. I will say, though, that I've always liked Hefty (way more than Tiger - don't get me started), because he's a southpaw. I routinely pull for all the southpaws, being one myself.

My dad does the same thing.

Mickelson just looking to support his gambling habit.

With Tiger not being the player he used to be and driving both viewership and purses, I can understand why players with marginal chances of winning on the PGA tour would go for the money grab. That said, any penalties levied by the PGA should be expected by those players. Almost none of the players that decided to bail were important for PGA (declining) ratings anyway.

It seems the players who bailed for LIV have opted for money over tradition, loyalty to fans and ultimately recognition/acceptance.
I don’t understand the hostility to the move. They made a choice and will bear the consequences of that choice.
The PGA has made several tone-deaf money first choices over the decades, why can’t the players?

I agree with Elvado on this. I don't hold it against the players if they want to go after the dollars, but I would be less uncomfortable if it weren't the Saudis sponsoring the new tour. That isn't a really good look for the players.
That said, I will miss seeing DJ, DeChambeau, Koepka, Patrick Reed and Kevin Na playing majors only on the tour, but I and the tour will survive.

And now, like everyone else, they should deal with the repercussions of their choices. My guess is that the guys the PGA can make money off will be allowed back…

A federal judge Tuesday denied the bid by three golfers — Talor Gooch, Matt Jones and Hudson Swafford — seeking spots in this week’s St. Jude Championship, which begins Thursday in Memphis. The trio had sought a temporary restraining order that would allow them to play in the season-ending FedEx Cup playoffs, a three-tournament competition that includes the top 125 golfers in season-long standings. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/08/09/pga-tour-liv-golf-hearing/

They're suing to avoid having to deal with the repercussions. Actually having to sue to get in (injunction denied this far) is dealing with repercussions. The fact that they may lose will be further repercussions.

The fact that they may lose will be further repercussions. They don't "have" to sue. They were told they were going to be suspended. Again, they just don't want deal with the consequences they were told they were going to have to deal with.
