The last time a Hoya ran the steeplechase at Hayward Field (the old one) I saw Darren Fahy fall in the semi-finals of the 2016 Olympic trials on the last or penultimate barrier. He was in position to make the finals. Better luck for hoyaduck this time; I expect a complete review of the race from him.

A tremendous race and awesome results for the top 4 finishers. Parker has made awesome progress in his two years at GU and the future is even brighter if he can stay healthy and injury free.

The men were the highest scoring Big East team, including UConn, dominant winner of the BE meet. Among the other teams that the Hoyas beat are Maryland, Duke, Syracuse, UCLA, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana.

This week's rankings and the final of the season is no different than the placing in the NCAA finals.
So the women are tied for 62nd, up 9 spots from last week. The men came in 46th, up 26 spots from last week.

A little late to the review, but Parker put himself in a great position to coast on the inside until the final laps. I was a little nervous when two or three runners passed him with a couple laps to go, but he stuck with the pack and made a great move to follow the leaders going into the bell lap. It was a three man race down the final straightaway, but the Eastern Kentucky runner just had that extra gear for the win. 8:18! We'll see him back here in a week!

Thanks Hoyaduck. It should be interesting to see how Parker does in the Nationals. And he doesn't have to worry about getting the time for the Worlds, since he already has it. I hope he can recover from the NCAA race, because he gave it his all.

Now besides Parker being entered in the USATF National meet (qualifier for the Worlds), Matt Payamps and Jack Salisbury were accepted for the meet. The qualifying time for the meet was 3:37, and Matt and Jack were just over that mark, but they are filling out the fields and they have been accepted.

Parker shares the American collegiate record with Duncan Hamilton, who "best" him by 0.002 s. The record goes down as 8:18.88, which both runners got, so no going out to the thousandths.
