Deserves his own thread. Gardner was on campus yesterday for an unofficial visit. Should be priority number one for the staff in that class - already nearing five star status and seems to have an affinity for Georgetown early.

Brandon Gardner, F- A forward from South Carolina Gardner was one of the bounciest frontcourt players in attention and he plays with an abandon around the rim that sometimes leads to some nasty spills. His ability to get off the floor a second or third time for tips and rebounds is something that can’t be taught and he’s perfect for teams that like to get as many switchable athletes on the floor as possible. Gardner has already scored double digit offers. 247sports.com/Article/Pangos-All-American-Camp-Bossis-underclass-standouts-166365153/

Our last F from South Carolina turned out pretty well, just wish Peak had played with Patrick coaching!

I know he's a power forward but coach you need to put that 33 on that boy!

Feel like we should be doing a full court press on this young man. Would we pass on taking a SF in 22 if we can get an early verbal here?

Was he cut from the 8th grade team? I kinda doubt it.

Don't they say Michael Jordan was cut from his HS varsity team in his sophomore year? I think part of that story, though, is that he was still 5'9" as a sophomore and then had his big growth spurt. Anyone know how tall Brandon was in 8th grade?

Anyone know how tall Brandon was in 8th grade? Exactly my point. They love to write things like “Michael Jordan was cut from his high school team” because it makes good copy. In most cases they neglect to add that he was cut from the Varsity as a 10th grader, in large measure probably, because the coaches wanted him to get the floor time on JV. That worked, out.

He was still cut from varsity because the coaches didn’t think he was good enough to contribute, I don’t understand your point? That’s the truth. He didn’t play varsity again until he was a junior. You think that’s the typical path for an NBA hall of famer? Don’t you realize that there are far less talented players who were on that varsity team he was cut from? That’s the point. He overcame being overshadowed and forgotten about.

He overcame being overshadowed and forgotten about. Yeah but if he grew from 5'9" t0 6'4" then he didn't necessarily have to improve his skills by that much to become a D1 player. Anthony Davis was a mid major CG but with his growth spurts he became the #1 recruit in his class. His skill level wasn't great but 3* PG/SG skills on a 6'11" dude is a problem. 3* PG/SG skills on a 6'2" dude gets you to E. Illinois or wherever he was going......
