1500m heats
Ernst from Provy, 2nd at Big East, came in 2nd in his heat, and Donovan and Comber qualified.
And Jack came in 2nd in 3:44.46 to the college record holder Nuguse at 3:44.34.

Jack ran a pretty easy race. He was behind Nuguse most of the early race, then he got boxed in, but relaxed and easily got out and could have won the race but eased up at the end. Looked like he had more in the tank. Kipsang of Alabama ran away with his heat to run 3:37.17; he led all the way coming through 800m in 1:53.

3 3 Matthew PAYAMPS Georgetown [FR] 1:49.52 Q
6 9 Ruach PADHAL Georgetown [JR] 1:50.35
So Ruach did not qualify even though his time was better than Theo's. Ruach led at 400m.
I missed Matt's and Ruach's races because my browser locked up.

Robert finished 5th and so punched his ticket to Eugene. 28:48.11 (better than the facility record). Robert was in the lead pack for 5 miles, then the heat and humidity seemed to affect him. He looked relaxed and well within himself so those 5 miles. I think he probably wanted to save himself for the 5000m.
Jack Van Scoter came in 15th in 29:14.62 just missing the top 12, who all go to Eugene.

Uh oh, it seems as if they penalized Robert and removed him from his 5th place finish.

Thanks for posting updates and results, Nevada! We had a line of severe storms roll through at 5:30 last night, so I couldn't watch or track results until this morning.
One update from the West Region: Future Hoya Matt Young (Arkansas) had a bit of a rough night and finished 39th in the 10K:
39 Matt YOUNG Arkansas [JR] 30:53.44

Fellow Hoya track fans -- you guys need to ditch T&F News for an online subscription to The Stride Report. Their four writers listed their picks for the top 12 in each of the distance events. I'm just listing the men here but will follow up with their predictions for the women when I have more time:
10000m
Robert: 4/5/4/4 (three writers guessed Robert would finish #4 and one guessed correctly at #5)
Jack VS: NL (not listed by any writer as finishing in the top 12)
5000m
Robert: 5/5/5/5
1500
Jack: 8/8/7/8
Steeple
Parker: 9/NL/12/10
800
Theo: 7/7/NL/7
Matt: 11/NL/10/NL

Sheasdad, thank for posting the Stride Report. I have had a subscription to T&F News for about 40 years. They did have a nice story dedicated on Rachel Schneider, so once in a while they will give some Hoyas kudos.
Robert said Coach Bonsey told him to shut it down in the last mile, so he would have fresh legs for the 5000m. So 5th place was well enough to qualify for Eugene.

Sami Corman was 4th in her heat (the first 5 were all bunched and had run away from the rest of the pack) in a PR of 4:16.4 Alie Fordyce was 10th but in a PR of 4:21.79.

Top 12 is all the really matters here but I'd guess that Theo got some bonus points by the Stride Report writers based upon his international racing for France...these qualifying races are as much about tactics/experience as speed...despite some big time performances IMHO Matt and Parker too are still a bit under the radar...
I was surprised that Robert didn't shut it down earlier...with maybe two miles to go the lead pack had dwindled to 11 and the top 12 qualify...it had to be hot down there and he has another long race to run.
The women got very little respect from the Stride Report writers:
1500
Sami Corman: NR/10/NR/NR
5000
Maggie Donahue: 9/NR/NR/NR
