The 3rd heat of the men's 5000m looks like a battle between Syracuse alums and the Hoyas, comprising the first four places at 2600m.

At 4200m Robert is in front and Jack has dropped to 5th. The Syracuse alums have fallen off the pace.

Arg! Parker went from 1st to 3rd in the NCAA SC best times:
Hot men's Steeple at E Kentucky.
1 Nowak, Craig Unattached 8:21.49 2 Jaziri, Ahmed JR Eastern Kentucky 8:23.14 3 Barraza, Brian Unattached 8:25.96 2
5 Garcia-Palencia, Pedro FR Eastern Kentucky/Spain 8:38.09
But Parker is still the #1 American born NCAA SC runner so far this year.

After this weekend the women fell from 79th to 105th in the national rankings.
The men rose from 40th to 29th in the national rankings. Robert Brandt is ranked in the top 10 in three events: 6th in the 10000m (although he has a time this year that would place him 2nd), 7th in the 1500m, and 9th in the 5000m. Our highest ranking runner is Parket Stokes at #3 in the 3000m SC.
The women fell one place in the Regional rankings and are now #9. The men remain #4.
In the conference rankings the women rose one place to #5 in the Big East. The men remain #3 in the Big East.

Apparently, the steeplechase times for the #1 and #2 ranked runners are invalid because of a short track. If this is confirmed Parker goes into the #1 slot.

Even though the Hoyas did not compete this weekend, the men rose from 29th to 27th. There was an improvement in Parker Stokes position in the steeplechase. They have removed the #1,2 from last week because of measurement problems, but a runner from Arkansas State beat Parker's time by 0.43 s. At #27th the Hoyas are ahead of such track and field powers as TCU, Washington, Texas Tech, Baylor, Stanford, and NAU. Butler at #47 and Villanova at #54 are the closest BE teams.
The women have fallen from #105 to #118.
The men remain #4 in the region behind Navy, Pittsburgh, and Penn State. The women rose one place to #8 in the regional rankings.
The men remain #3 in the Big East behind UConn and Nova. The women remain #5 in the Big East.
The men are ranked #3 in the 800m, #5 in the 1500m, and #6 in the 10,000m based on the total times of the top 4 runners in those events. The Hoyas might be #1 in the SC if they had four runners in the SC. The women's best event is the 800m, where we rank #15.

The men are better placed on the national level than the regional or conference. We hope they get lots of points at the NCAAs.
This weekend they go back to UVA for the third time this year, then onto the Big East conference meet, and then NCAA regional qualifying.

Piggybacking on Nevada's post above, here's how T&FN projects the Hoya men to perform at Nats:
Team score:
(Included Arkansas because it would be wild to beat them)
The Steeple projections are kinda funny, since TFN ranks two runners' whose marks were disallowed due to the short track ahead of Parker, but ranks him ahead of Pascoe of Arkansas St., who has the only official time faster than Parker. Smeeton has run 8:51.73 this year (27th per TFRRS), but ran 8:27.90 in 2019 and was NCAA runner-up that year (winner was of course Hoya alum Darren Fahy's brother, Steven Fahy of Stanford).
In the 10,000, Conner Mantz hasn't yet registered a mark in the event, and is given benefit of the doubt based on his NCAA XC win (not unfairly).

I think Robert will be higher than 7th in the 10,000m. and who know, one of our 800m runners and one of our 1500m runners might sneak into the scoring. And we have an outside chance to pick up a point or two in the triple jump. Parker is the only freshman (according to eligibility) on the steeple top 10. I think he will be in the mix for the SC title.
