"The Division I Competition Oversight Committee on Wednesday approved a replacement policy for spring championships and the remaining fall championships that were moved to the spring semester of the 2020-21 academic calendar.
Outdoor Track & Field Preliminary Rounds The committee approved reducing the field size for the East and West preliminary round sites in men’s and women’s outdoor track and field from 48 per individual event to 32. While the preliminary rounds are an important and integral part of the championship format, the reduction will help address COVID-19 concerns associated with a large number of participants.
Relay events will remain at 24 teams per event. This will reduce the overall championship field by a total of 1,152 (576 per site), or one-third of the field."
I think this will hurt us. I have always liked that 48 per individual event, but I guess this is required this year.
First meet of the season is March 25/26 at the Raleigh Relays.
EDIT: The NCAA has reversed this decision and will go back for the 48 individuals per gender per event. Again, relays still are at 24 teams per event.

The men dropped three places in the national rankings to #32. Michigan and Houston leapfrogged over the Hoyas. The women fell one place to #131.
The men remain 3rd in the Region, and the women remain at #9 in the region. The men remain 3rd in the Big East and the women fell one spot to #6 in the BE.
The men remain 4th in the nation in team 800 and team SC and 4th in team 1500. The women's highest team event ranking is 18th in the 800m (19th in the 1500m).
Not too much movement as the Hoyas did not compete this weekend. Big weekend coming up at the Big East. Probably will not get many marks to move up since this will be competitive and not trying to be pulled to marks. May 16 is the last day to get qualifying marks for regionals. Top 48 marks in the region (east or west) will be invited.

It would be pretty funny to watch a competitive race on that track!
