I hope that some of these Freshmen coming in are able to consistently shoot from deep. This year the presence of multiple perimeter threats, however inconsistent, helped open the offense, particularly when the team remembered to move the ball quickly and smartly. Shooters are an essential part of the game. Right now, other than Carey (if he is back), who are the shooters? Harris was not great but could improve. Berger was promising but certainly far from a finished product. We really are depending on Dante, TJ, Sibley and at least one of the freshmen becoming a constant threat. We know TJ can shoot but will we be able to surround him with enough options to keep him open and can he improve enough on D to make it a net plus with his O...

It's heavily weighted towards one kid who I doubt will be around long. Behind him we have a developmental, but good piece at Center and then...meh. More of the same. Plenty of classes are skewed by 1 or 2 players that's how cumulative rankings work, not just for Georgetown but for every team... So individually the "stars" matter but when combined into making a class ranking they don't...ok... So Mutumbo at #108 4 stars (because that matters) is a promising future piece to the program but Riley #118 3 stars is Meh? What happens when new rankings come out and Riley is #105 4 stars and Mutumbo is #115 and 3 stars. Now Riley is our future and Mutumbo is Meh? I'm talking about the full class as a step in the right direction. I don't care so much about the ranking, I care about the components of the class. If this past class had Sibley ranked #5 and the rest where they were, it still wouldn't have been a very good class. And you're making assumptions about who I've seen play and whether I'm basing my judgments solely on the rankings. Mutombo is a promising future piece because he's progressed, he has a decent frame and skill set, and because of his bloodlines, not because he's a four star.

Berger is not a Big East caliber player. The idea that he even got a scholarship is wild. This goes back to the WCAC thread: there are 10 kids who went elsewhere who would've taken that Berger scholly in a heartbeat and been an immediate upgrade.

I'm not sure I agree or disagree because I haven't seen much of Berger. What 3-5 guys from the WCAC should we have picked up? I guess you're saying no matter what, the 12 or 13th scholly could at least be an inroads to other future WCAC, local recruits etc.?

Any kid who is a 6’5”, ball handling guard with good vision and shoots 50% from 3 is Big East caliber. Say what you want about Aminu and Riley, but they have yet to develop an outside shot. I think you are crazy.

I know that it hasn't mattered much at Gtown over the last 6 seasons... Ask a Marquette fan how well it's worked out for them? How about Memphis or Indiana or Maryland? The stars don't matter narrative isn't what I'm trying to push... Then what point are you trying to make? This is stupid. No one says it "works out" 100% of the time, but it sure as hell works out far better than recruiting 3 stars and PWO's who get scholarships at the last minute. The point that success can be had with or without the high star recruits many folks including yourself pine for... I agree that it'll work out better with 4* kids than preferred walk-ons but depending on coaching & system I'm not sure there will be much of a difference when it comes to 3* kids...

Over time, my 4-star team will beat your 3-star team.

Article says the AD is pushing for him to find another gig. Not sure if this is the right thread for it and it doesn't necessarily help or hurt us tbh.

Have had an eye on this lately because it seemed like there was some mounting sentiment for this. I thought that their season ending was actually best case scenario from a Georgetown perspective. I tend to think that having Turgeon at the helm in College Park is pretty good for us. He's not from the area, he's recruited the area decently but hasn't been anything exceptional. If they let him go it might shake loose a few recruits that we pursued to some extent (Cornish, Julian Reese, Paul Lewis) and it might mean one less competitor for some of the top local guys in 2022. However it's also possible that the replacement would have stronger ties to the area, or would bring in some different assistants with strong ties to the local AAU scene which might actually make local recruiting harder. If he missed the tournament completely it seemed like he might get pushed out, if they made a deep run it might help their recruiting pick up in 2022. So making it to the round of 32 seemed like a winner from our perspective, but sounds like it may not have been enough. If he does get forced out, hope we consider making a play for Bino Ranson, one of Turgeon's assistants who is a good recruiter of the area (especially Baltimore).

Another piece of news that just made me more depressed. None of the local kids wants to stay home and we lose Q. This is a very bad day for me. I hope that Patrick can get someone in to replace Q and I hope that we don't take another backwards step next season. If we do, I am through with college basketball.
