My guess is more $$ was at LSU. Kind of like a doctor's salary. Much less in the DC area, 30% higher in places like Louisiana where the nearest airport is over an hour away. It's possible, but we tried to hire Brooks to get him in a package. Can't act like we're losing out because we're not playing the game at this point.

This coaching staff….. just unbelievably bad. I’m starting to think Pat Ewing might be bad at this job.

Not going to lie, if it is a one to two year stop, I would take the money too. Have you seen the housing market these days?

Someone explain to me how this was the coaching staff? They gave it their best shot. The kid chose a different option. Should the coaching staff kidnap relatives and ransom them for commitments? Read the post immediately before yours.

Wow. We really needed a bouncy, talented wing. There is no-one in the transfer portal who we can possibly get who approximates Ward. If we're lucky Murray can roughly be a replacement for Aminu. Primo and Heath seem to be , at best Blair or Carey. Anselem is really no better than Malcolm. I was hoping we could add enough talent to somewhat negate our coaching.
Oh well. Its gonna be another long, depressing season.

How is it not on the coaching staff? A day ago people wanted to high five Nickelberry on this one for recruiting him to LSU and Crouch for knowing him when he was little. LSU has a Head Coach with a .700 winning percentage. We have our worst coach in the history of our program and went 0-20. Recruits tend to notice those things.

I remember how excited I was when Aminu announced he was coming to Georgetown.
A 21 straight season ending losing streak later - I can't work up that much emotion around winning/losing any recruiting battle anymore. this program is way beyond the point where any one player is going to make a whole lot of difference. It would have been great to get Ward, but it was great to get Aminu and that didn't do much of anything to move the program forward in either the short or long term.

Georgetown can’t compete against corrupt program like LSU. This isn't Tremont Waters. If money is involved, the likelihood is that it's NIL bucks. LSU cleaned house.

This coaching staff….. just unbelievably bad. I’m starting to think Pat Ewing might be bad at this job. I'm starting to think that you have not signed your paycheck over to Ward and therefore he decided on LSU. I'm starting to think that you are just bad as hell at your job. I'm starting to think you are a freaking pain in the ass. I'm starting to think that it is time for you walk your ass away. PLEASE!!!!!!

We hired Nickelberry from LSU so we could do exactly that. Sigh. People want to throw stones at a completely new regime at LSU while ignoring the fact that the big change of our offseason is that we hired from the old, corrupt one there and brought in a bundled recruit while doing it. And they want to cry that we tried to bundle another recruit with an assistant and it didn't work out - and then accuse someone else of cheating. The hypocrisy is insane.

Georgetown can’t compete against corrupt program like LSU. If this decision came down to a "corrupt" program beating out Georgetown - with NIL, there are dozens and dozens of "corrupt" programs we are now competing with for recruits. the days of blaming recruiting losses on programs cheating the recruiting game are over. the more realistic view is probably that we are on the lowest level of NIL funding, and will lose recruits because of this. But this is not "corruption" under the new laws/rules, it is just everyday recruiting. The outcome is the same (we will likely lose out to these schools almost all the time), but we can't legitimately call it "corruption" anymore. They are just better at the now-legal $ based aspect of the recruiting game than we are.
