I just saw that Xavier is trying to schedule a game for the weekend against someone good enough to pad their resume. Nova is available. Pretty sneaky, X It's smart. And I bet it's a new thing going forward. Play Cause in a double bubbble game.

Give X credit for trying and not giving up on he year, but with all the various COVID restrictions in all the different conferences I am not sure how this is supposed to happen and find an agreed upon place to play by this weekend.

So Duke is apparently bowing out for the season. Virginia and now Kansas are out of their conference tournaments and less than a week from tournament. It’s going to be a wild, weird week until next Thursday/Friday.

It seems like college campuses all across the country are getting hit really hard by these new COVID variants, and many schools are seeing big spikes in cases. It has been a long year for everyone and it seems like college kids might be getting lax about following the protocols as the nice weather starts and these variants are even more contagious than the original virus. It will be a miracle if there are not a few forfeits during the NCAA tournament because of COVID

At least if they get shut down they will hold the all-time NCAA FT record.

I guess the only option is the other team automatically advances to the Elite 8? A nice bye for whoever can get it!

Yes they said they would replace teams from the NIT I think until the first round and then after the tourney starts of a team can’t play the other team would just advance. But I also saw that teams could compete as long as they had 5 healthy players so not sure how that will work with contact tracing, testing, etc.

Poor performance by the Ducks tonight, but I feel terrible for whatever 1 seed gets them in the second round.

That only applies until Tuesday, after that a COVID positive gives a bye to the opponent. The crazy thing I just heard - if a team goes out with COVID by Tuesday, the NIT #1 that replaces it gets the same seed. So if Gonzaga tests positive on Monday, the 46th best at-large team in the country becomes the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament.

Ten years ago today, of the 66 teams selected for the NCAA tournament, eleven were from the Big East.

I’m betting on a 13 seed.
Either way, we are going to be a PROBLEM for whoever has the misfortune of drawing us.

I’m going to say 11 seed, maybe a 10 when they look at all our real bad losses before the pause.
