Trump’s lawyers met with senior prosecutors Thursday in the DA’s office “in hopes of persuading them to abandon any plan to charge the company, according to several people familiar with the meeting,” the Times reported. “Such meetings are routine in white-collar criminal investigations, and it is unclear whether the prosecutors have made a final decision on whether to charge the Trump Organization, which has long denied wrongdoing.” lawandcrime.com/trump/trump-organization-could-face-criminal-charges-as-soon-as-next-week-reports/

Corrupt bastards. Corrupt Republicans. There better be a criminal referral to DOJ. Two former Environmental Protection Agency officials intentionally kept two staffers on the payroll and allowed them to continue receiving their salaries even after they were terminated, according to a report from the agency’s independent watchdog. The report also found that the former officials, both appointed by former president Donald Trump, committed other fraudulent payroll-related activities — including one giving the other an improper pay increase — that cost the EPA more than $130,000. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/06/26/trump-appointees-allowed-terminated-epa-staffers-keep-receiving-salaries-watchdog-report-says/

Me too. But, in all honesty, I'm not surprised in the least.

Grift and racism is the brand. It's the entire brand. The other things they talk about are a passing attempt at making it seem as though there's any policy actual agenda.

During a December 1 deposition—in which she swore to tell the truth—Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump who was an executive at the Trump Organization before becoming a White House adviser to her father, was asked if she had any “involvement in the process of planning the inauguration.” She replied, “I really didn’t have an involvement.” Ivanka testified that if her “opinion was solicited” regarding an inauguration event, she “would give feedback to my father or to anyone who asked my perspective or opinion.” And that was as far as her participation went. But this wasn’t accurate, according to the documents, which indicate she was part of the decision-making for various aspects of the inauguration, including even the menus for events. www.motherjones.com/politics/2021/06/documents-show-ivanka-trump-didnt-testify-accurately-in-inauguration-scandal-case/

Me too. But, in all honesty, I'm not surprised in the least. There's definitely no reason to be surprised. This is our Republican Party, fine people, all of them.

The most corrupt regime in American history. An examination of public records by The Washington Post has found that the agricultural company, Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM), sold the land at a small fraction of its estimated value just as it stood to benefit from a friendly secretary of agriculture. The timing of the sale just as Perdue was about to become the most powerful man in U.S. agriculture raises legal and ethics concerns, from the narrow question of whether the secretary followed federal financial disclosure requirements to whether the transaction could have been an attempt to influence an incoming government official, in violation of bribery statutes, ethics lawyers say. “This stinks to high heaven,” said Julie O’Sullivan, a Georgetown University law professor and former federal prosecutor. “It deserves a prosecutor’s attention,” she added. “Only a prosecutor with the powers of the grand jury can find out, in fact, whether there was a quid pro quo that existed at the time of the deal.” www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/interactive/2021/sonny-perdue-adm-land-deal/?itid=hp_alert

Tomorrow . . .
The Manhattan district attorney’s office is expected to charge the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer with tax-related crimes on Thursday, people familiar with the matter said, which would mark the first criminal charges against the former president’s company since prosecutors began investigating it three years ago.

This will be the first of many to fall on the sword and take the hit for Dear Leader. I can hear the "I'm shocked, SHOCKED I say" denials coming now...

Who is Unindicted Co-conspirator # 1? Is he the same as Individual-1 in the Stormy Daniels campaign finance violation? (NBC News says it is not but we shall see - maybe Junior or Eric?). Ha ha ha. NEW YORK — Prosecutors charged the Trump Organization with a 15-year "scheme to defraud" the government and charged its chief financial officer with grand larceny and tax fraud in a Manhattan courtroom Thursday afternoon. Carey Dunne, a prosecutor with the District Attorney's Office, said in the hearing that the charges related to an "off-the-books tax fraud scheme" that lasted for 15 years. He said that the scheme allowed Trump Organization executives to get "secret pay raises" while not paying proper taxes. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-business-weisselberg-indictments/2021/07/01/e2b774a0-da15-11eb-bb9e-70fda8c37057_story.html

Here's hoping. So far, the danger is to Trump’s friends and his business, not the former president himself. But the danger could spiral, because Trump knew only so many tricks. If Trump’s company was bypassing relatively moderate amounts of tax on the income flows to Trump’s friends, what was it doing with the much larger income flows to Trump and his own family? Even without personal testimony, finances leave a trail. There is always a debit and a credit, and a check issued to the IRS or not. on.theatln.tc/H0FbUx1
