We're 34 pages into a thread about corruption with regard to a former POTUS who is running for a second time and leading in the polls for the former Republican party. And, that's before any of his trials have gotten underway. Just take a second to ponder that. When "Republicans" used to try to respond to this stuff with, I imagine, a straight face, they'd be all, "Yeah, but look at the Biden corruption thread!" Oh, right. There isn't one. I wonder if we can somehow figure out why that might be... With regard to this latest thing, Eric says it never happened and we know how trustworthy he is.

The sad thing about FPOTUS and his associates is that pretty much anything can (and is often proven to be) be true.

New York attorney general again seeks sanctions for Trump in civil case NEW YORK — New York Attorney General Letitia James asked a civil judge on Tuesday to impose sanctions against Donald Trump and his attorneys, saying they improperly relied on already rejected arguments in seeking the dismissal of a $250 million lawsuit against the former president. Attorneys from James’ office argued that lawyers for Trump and other defendants in the case, including the Trump Organization and two of Trump’s adult children, have pushed meritless arguments in legal pleadings at least five times, most recently in a pretrial summary judgment motion submitted a month ago and made public last week. www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/09/05/trump-sanctions-james-new-york/

The MAGA GOP, nothing but a corrupt criminal continuing enterprise. Questions asked of two recent witnesses indicate Smith is focusing on how money raised off baseless claims of voter fraud was used to fund attempts to breach voting equipment in several states won by Joe Biden, according to multiple sources familiar with the ongoing investigation. In both interviews, prosecutors have focused their questions on the role of former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell. According to invoices obtained by CNN, Powell’s non-profit, Defending the Republic, hired forensics firms that ultimately accessed voting equipment in four swing states won by Biden: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona. edition.cnn.com/2023/09/05/politics/special-counsel-election-probe-continues-fundraising-voting-equipment-breaches-sidney-powell/index.html

Barr weaponization of DOJ through John "Bull" Durham caused her to resign. HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A former federal prosecutor who helped investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe said Wednesday she left the team because of concerns with then-Attorney General William Barr’s public comments about the case and because she strongly disagreed with a draft of an interim report he considered releasing before the election. “I simply couldn’t be part of it. So I resigned,” Nora Dannehy told Connecticut state legislators during her confirmation hearing as a nominee to the state Supreme Court. It marked the first time Dannehy has spoken publicly about her sudden resignation from the probe overseen by former special counsel John Durham. apnews.com/article/connecticut-supreme-court-dannehy-barr-russia-investigation-cdb85689f026f05e9f87be098cd8ed40

Orange Jesus found a fraudster on partial summary judgment. Business certificates also yanked and independent receivers to be named to oversee the dissolution of the LLCs (plural). Bye Bye, Trump Organization!! I guess his popularity with "Republicans" will be off the charts now, right? NEW YORK, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Donald Trump and his family business were found liable for fraud on Tuesday in state Attorney General Letitia James' civil lawsuit accusing the former U.S. president of illegally inflating his assets and net worth. The decision was issued by Justice Arthur Engoron of the New York state court in Manhattan. James sued Trump in Sept. 2022, accusing him and the Trump Organization of lying for a decade about asset values and his net worth to get better terms on bank loans and insurance. www.reuters.com/legal/judge-finds-trump-liable-fraud-new-york-civil-case-2023-09-26/The New York attorney general won a major victory in her civil case against Donald J. Trump on Tuesday when a New York judge determined that the former president fraudulently inflated the value of his assets to obtain favorable loans and insurance deals. The decision by Justice Arthur F. Engoron precedes a trial that is scheduled to begin Monday, and will considerably smooth Attorney General Letitia James’s path forward as she seeks a penalty of about $250 million. Justice Engoron’s decision narrows the issues that will be heard, effectively deciding that the trial was not necessary to find that Mr. Trump was liable and that the core of Ms. James’s case was valid. It represents a major blow to Mr. Trump, whose lawyers had sought to persuade the judge to throw out many of the claims against the former president. www.nytimes.com/2023/09/26/nyregion/trump-james-fraud-trial.html

Mango Mussolini loses again! N.Y. appeals court refuses to delay Trump fraud trial set to start Monday NEW YORK — An appeals court Thursday declined to postpone the start of next week’s trial in the New York attorney general’s $250 million fraud lawsuit against Donald Trump and his company. The appellate court had been asked by Trump’s legal team to put off the scheduled start of the proceeding Monday and to force New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, who will oversee it, to dismiss claims that were covered by statute of limitations. In its two-page ruling, a panel at the Appellate Division, First Judicial Department, does not say whether Engoron committed an error by not finding that elements of the case are time-barred. An interim stay of the trial was vacated. www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/09/28/trump-fraud-trial-appeals-court/
