The way things have been going, you'd think Rivers had given up basketball. Haven't heard anything but negatives about his summer.

Rivers has been banged up and plays on an average AAU team--they have two good guards with him and Wake Forest commit Anthony Gurley in backcourt but they are limited in frontcourt and get beaten badly on glass.
Rivers skipped the Nike Camp due to injury and needing to recover and that's the same camp he was a consensus top 15 player in last year, so I'm not worried about his game--GU Staff knows talent so I trust their evaluation of him and just wish Jeremiah the best on recovering from his injuries.

What RDF said. I trust the staff. Rivers has been injured, but I think it's fair to say at this point that he was a bit overrated when we signed him. He seems to struggle to score, because his jumper is prett iffy right now. Still, he's got great size and does a lot of things well, from what I hear. If anyone was expecting him to step in and start immediately, maybe you should temper those expectations, but he's still a great pickup.
The championship from Vegas is on Fox Sports live this evening, but I don't know who is playing. It's at 8 PM ET.

Boys, boys boys. You are counting on the same rating systems that you frequently bash to determine what level of talent we have coming in the door. The kid is legit and I think that is all we need to worry about right now. He is an upcoming senior so he still has a year left of HIGH SCHOOL! Let the kid be.

I wasn't bashing the kid, I was merely remarking on the level of coverage he's gotten relative to Summers. I'm psyched Rivers is coming, and based on what I've heard and the fact III and his staff have shown they can recruit and coach some talent, I think he'll fit right in and contribute right away (esp. considering we'll need a PG by then... BADLY).

Gottcha. It seems that these recruiting services drop guys on their list that sign onto a school early since it isn't as fun to read about the top 50 guys already lined up and they need someone to keep checking their website. I remember when I was 17 and if I got injured on a Monday I was good to go on a Friday. This kid is going to be solid and the pedigree factor doesn't hurt.

It was EBO with the Lopez twins vs. FOH-Seattle w/ Spencer Hawes and Isiah Thomas (not that one), that was on FOX BDSH. FOH-Seattle beat DC Assault w/ Durant & Lawson out in Vegas yesterday. Although ranked top 5 by many, Hawes doesn't impress me really. At 6'10 he looks mechanical and seems overmatched against athletic bigs. I read where Macklin abused him awhile back.

Hawes, I think had the most impressive individual performance, at least statistically. I watched the game for a while and thought that the Lopez brothers looked a bit more athletic, but Hawes was effective. He's got some game, though I don't know that he's a top 5 prospect in the class based on what I saw.
