jpj you're completely correct in your assessment. Howard and Powell have proven themselves over and over, again. Both players can excel in the NBA. I couldn't believe the players they were drafting. No knock on the kid from Israel, but he hasn't proven that he's NBA level talent. It's senseless to rehash all of the foolish picks and compare them to the undrafted athletes. Overreliance on metrics and the absence of actual tryouts explain why the draft picks this year were terrible. For example, Cassius Winston and Cassius Stanley can both play in this league. Fred Van Fleet is a great example of how a terrific NBA talent gets overlooked because of metrics. Van Fleet is barely six feet. McClung's even two inches taller. Van Fleet's power and craftiness elevates him over much taller players. The guy's the real deal at 6'. It's not always the size of the dog in the fight; it's often the size of the fight in the dog.

Mac better learn to speak Latvian. Probably Mandarin or Cantonese. Could see a big market for him in China. Not quite Starbury but bigger than Jimmer. Pick up a few mill a year for a few years, have your own shoe/clothing line plus other endorsements, average 40+ without having to defend much. Beijing’s beautiful (ex a pandemic)

Foreign language majors would be in all seriousness great paths for most Div 1 basketball players .
