I wish the basketball program would share more information about this season, for example, our out of conference opponents, if we are currently scrimmaging and versus whom, where will we play our home games, and even if they are able, who is looking especially good in our practices, pleasant surprises, other info to satisfy our eager minds.

I am with you on this. The program doesn't operate in a vacuum. I know there a lot to do but someone(s) must promote the team and cultivate the fanbase. Information and visibility is keep to that....social media!

It doesn't belong here. There are similar threads already in the main section of this message board. 2 - Regardless of all that there is probably nothing more annoyingly frustrating on Hoya Talk than new threads with titles that seem to promise information but when you open the posts to read them you learn that they are actually asking for information. Which makes the titles arguably misleading. No matter where you post a new thread it may be better to make the title a question if that is the true intent of the post in the first place. 3 - Why are people still surprised about the lack of information regarding early weeks of practice? This program does not provide that type of information. To get such news you would have to have three key ingredients: a) a program very willing to divulge such information, b) an eager press which feels compelled to get such info to feed a rapid fanbase beast and c) an actual fan base that is big, strong and quite vocal (demanding to be honest) about wanting to know such things. Georgetown basketball does not qualify. Part A, if unwilling, won't feel forced to provide details if it is not pushed by Part B. And Part B won't feel compelled to pull teeth from a reluctant program unless it is hearing a lot from Part C. This isn't rocket science. We as fans have control only over Part C. For years I would gnash teeth over the lack of press about the program and talk about how I reached out to newspapers and other media to complain. This apparently led fellow HTers to roll their eyes and tell me I was making a big deal out of this. Or I was met by indifference. And all this time later look at where we are on this front. Granted lack of success tends to lead to lack of interest but I was complaining even during the steak-eating days of JTIII. Ultimately for a non-state school like GU the media won't feel the full pressure to provide the type of coverage we want until the team starts winning. Winning means news that media is obligated to cover, winning means expanding the fanbase. Nonetheless we as Hoya fans can at the very least put in place the infrastructure of a respectable fanbase by being more engaging with the press and media. We can do that not only by emailing demands of better coverage to newspapers but by actually reading all online Hoya articles we find and responding to them. This shows the press someone actually cares about Hoya basketball. This rule also applies to tweets and Instagram posts about the team. The media can now tell instantly what stories are driving traffic and what stories are not. Also the whole infrastructure thing means we need more people with connections providing the type of info that the press perhaps can't. As I have written before the fans of the program don't benefit from inside scoops about practices and early player development like fans of other schools. We tend to rely almost exclusively on Kenner performances. And when even that is taken away we are almost completely in the dark. We need some younger people on campus who are eager to get scoops after forming relationships with players, managers, perhaps even assistant coaches.

I originated this discussion and forgot to include - I wish we would receive information about how we can watch this seasons games? We they be on TV, which station(s), and or streamed? The first game is just 16 days from now. I would hope this info is available soon.

I cannot speak to out of conference games, but FS1 needs content, so I have no doubt the games will be aired in some capacity, be it FS1, FS2, or Fox Sports Go.

This is not the recruiting section! It was moved by the admins after MCI's post. Any thoughts about the AD and program's usage (or lack) of media, both traditional and social?

Because the moderators MOVED this post and placed it in the right spot days ago. Is this your first rodeo? Have you not ever noticed them doing such things before when necesary?

No problem! I, like many, long for information about the the men's basketball team. It's a great story and builds interest. The lack of that information is a great frustration to me. I don't understand why the program is so lacking in this respect. They should understand that people care and want to know what's happening.

I registered for the open practice and received a confirmation but, as far as I can tell, have not received a link for viewing the practice. Am I missing something?
