Can we all agree that if Ryan ever decides to decommit or transfers out of GU after a year or two that we have a serious problem? Geez, the kid sounds like a dream recruit. I know it's my mental problem talking but unless he's drafted by the NBA there is no way he shouldn't be a 4 year Hoya.

His choice of profile pic is kinda odd I'm with you, guru! Love his enthusiasm but WTF does he have a KENTUCKY??!?!? (antithesis of the GU program) avatar??!??!?

It's Terrence Clarke, the former UK player who died in a car crash last month.

I know it's my mental problem talking but unless he's drafted by the NBA there is no way he shouldn't be a 4 year Hoya. Of course we can’t agree on this. We are taking about a player with attractive upside but has yet to play at a highly competitive level. Most reasonable people agree it is going to take some time before Ryan is ready for a big contribution on the Hoyas. What if, like Sibley, he is not ready for this level or not satisfied with his timeline for being ready? In 2021, a player graduating without transferring during his college career is the exception and not the rule. Why would it be a serious problem if Ryan decided to transfer at some point? Also, how is he any more of a dream recruit then Aminu, Riley, Beard, Billingsley? How about we all pump the brakes on Ryan and watch what he is able to contribute to the team? Hopefully his contributions will be significant and long-term.

Why would it be a serious problem if Ryan decided to transfer at some point? --- How about we all pump the brakes on Ryan and watch what he is able to contribute to the team? Hopefully his contributions will be significant and long-term. To start, I agree with your last sentence. Ryan will contribute, but I think that it is likely to take time. I am confident Ewing will give him playing time to prove himself if he deserves the time. Ryan has the benefit of a father who is well-versed in the game too, so I think he will approach things differently than the average recruit. That said, of course it would be a big deal if Ryan decided to transfer. He has about as strong a connection as you can get to Georgetown (as an analog, Trey Mourning wasn't nearly as talented as Mutomobo, and people treated it like a big deal when he was going to transfer). If it was solely about talent level or skill, I would say maybe it's fine, but I don't think Mutombo is going to be below Big East level talent. Frankly, Ewing's retention record is so bad to this point, that I think he cannot afford to keep losing guys at the rate at which he has been the last several years, at least if they are guys with talent and who are contributing. If he cannot retain guys who have such a strong connection to Georgetown, that would, in my mind, be pretty problematic. Now, if Mutombo underperforms, sits on the bench, and gets no playing time AND then transfers, then maybe it won't be as big a deal (i.e., see Sibley). But, I don't see that happening.

Kid hasn't played a Kenner League game and we're talking about transfers? Transfers? We talking about Transfers? It's June 3rd and we talking about transfers. Ridiculous. And sad.

They say I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Now Akinjo and Mac said the same thing in a different way but Hoyatalk said that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Thanks Ryan for proving these guys wrong once again! Legacy does matter to these kids as I had said before. Thanks so much Ryan for validating my statement.
