I thought we were done with this "fire Ewing" crap. Or, were you not around during the time when that conversation was going on these threads a few weeks back? We don't want to revisit that mess again. I don't want Ewing fired. Unlike most folks here I am superficial enough to prefer offense over defense and I LOVE Ewing's offensive scheme. What has been hindering him if anything on offense has been a lack of size at the guard positions and continuity. The former seems to be taken care of, if the latter holds than the Hoyas should be putting on a show. So I don't want Ewing going anywhere. But my point was, and maybe it was a tad overboard, that if he needed two years of the services of a lone five star recruit for his team to be able to compete (my definition of compete) then he wasn't as good at this job that I think he is. And my positive view of him on that front may very be in the minority among Hoya fans Okay, understood now.

Ewing’s not going anywhere soon. If he goes to the Knicks in three years after back to back national championships, it will hurt to see him go but I will allow it

Riley will be one for sure, unless you would classify him as a guard. Otherwise it’s going to be up to one of Sibley, Holloway and Clark to figure it out scoring wise, and none of those three are known to be prolific scorers. Thing is Pickett and Blair weren't prolific scorers coming into Georgetown and still aren't prolific scorers as of yet. Pickett is 80% unfulfilled potential at this point. I root for him madly and will always be thankful for him choosing the Hoyas but its not like replacing him and Blair is like replacing Austin Freeman and Chris Wright. Agreed!! That....and offensive efficiency with those two leaves a lot to be desired at times.

Maybe Aminu will come to Georgetown and stay four years.
Since I don't see the emojis, in case anyone might have taken this seriously, that's a joke, boys and girls.

Guardian seems to provide excellent guidance and advice to the young man...

Think we've got a really really good shot here. Probably 50% or more.

Seems that way. Also not sure why we are “dark horse” as opposed to Indiana or Georgia.

Reading the quote doesn't get me excited that Aminu wants to come to GTown. It reads like most 5* quoting. Basically, Mom or Dad (in this case Advisor) loves the school but the kid wants the blueblood. I could be wrong because I can't see the player's expressions. I hope I'm wrong... 🙏🏽

That’s not just me reading it through a Hoya-tinted lens, he barely said anything about Georgia and his Indiana comments were by in large underwhelming.

Mutombo is a friend, NBA legend as HC, he will get playing time & shots, some pieces to run with and a chance to have a successful freshman season.
I think there is a real shot to land him.

Does anyone have access to what his comments were on Georgia and Indiana in that interview?

Re: Tom Crean he said "My relationship with Tom Crean is pretty much the same relationship I have with other coaches you know when we talk we talk a lot about my development and then kind of explains some things that can help me get better. But, so far so good I can say we have a pretty solid relationship.
Re: Archie Miller he said: "My relationship with him is pretty good you know we talk about basketball and he tells me things that will help improve my game."
Re: Jeff Capel he said: "We talked some, maybe a couple of times. He seems like a nice guy, he talks to me about leadership and being accountable."

I would agree then based on those other remarks that his G’Town comments stood out the most. He mentioned the academics and Ewing’s NBA experience to learn from. The other comments about Indiana, Georgia and Pittsburgh were fairly generic. On top of that, from reading Harmon’s comment, it appears he has quite an affinity for Georgetown and the Thompson days, and we know Harmon will have a big say in Aminu’s decision. G’Town also is the hometown school here, as Harmon is DC based. Lots of positives to look at.
To go even further, Ewing IS an NBA hall of famer, and a 15 year NBA assistant coach. He’s both been there and done that. If your plan is to stay only one year, why not learn from someone with both NBA experience as a player (hall of famer) and an assistant coach? There’s also Ryan Mutombo to hopefully steer him here, and you can toss Dikembe in there too for guidance perhaps? Georgetown has a long history with players who came over from Africa to get their education and play ball for the Hoyas — Dikembe obviously being the most noteworthy.
I also think Ewing must have some amazing stories on Michael Jordan, with all the battles against the Bulls and playing on the Dream Team with him. I think it was once mentioned that Aminu had a little fun back and forth with Ewing talking about Michael — about Aminu flying the way Michael could. Michael is the basketball pinnacle for these young kids, I like to think that’s a small little advantage Patrick can offer. Maybe I’m trying to be overly optimistic here, but I’m definitely excited at the prospect of landing Aminu!
