Staff is staying extra tight-lipped on this one. To me it’s an indicator that we are still in the game.

Does that mean he joins the team and starts to play sometime second semester? Or does he wait to get PT until a year from now?

I have no inside information, but I would imagine the only reason to enroll in January is so he could start playing in the second semester. I am sure it would take him a little while to integrate with the other players and learn the system, but if he is as good as he is projected to be, I would think he would be a nice addition.

Exactly, if you sign and come on as a 5 star, you are playing this year. On this years team, that would be a big benefit. Hollis & Domingo were not as heralded as recruits and they were coming onto more established teams. This is a team of new parts this year. There is no doubt he would get significant minutes this year and that would set-up next year for a very deep team with the freshman & sophomore classes.

Any chance Aminu is looking to play college ball the second semester and then go pro?

Seeing as the Ivy League tonight announced that there will be no winter sports this scholastic year, I'd be very surprised if Aminu Mohammed enrolls at Harvard for the second semester.

While the first tweet was about Harvard, the second tweet is the one I directly linked to because it confirmed that Aminu will be making a decision in the next couple of weeks.

Is it true that the Ivy League does not offer athletic scholarships? It is true, but they have a lot of "flexibility" to provide financial aid to kids they really want.

Is it true that the Ivy League does not offer athletic scholarships? Yes If, he were willing to go to Harvard on a non-atheletic scholarship and play ball, why couldn't Georgetown create a similar option? BTW, I read the table or schematic already. I am just curious. I like the talent we have commited already.

Harvard is a no loans school and families making up to 65kish get a full ride. Probably easy to claim they don't make 65k, as it wouldn't be Harmon who is considered his family but his biological family in Nigeria. Easy for any school, really, to justify need-based grants in that situation. And admissions is a squishy enough process, it's also relatively easy to get him into school without claiming him as an athletic admit. GU and Harvard could both go this route, fwiw, I suspect.

Having been through the process myself as well as participating on the athletic alumni council of a fellow Ivy League institution, I can assure you that it isn't relatively easy as you suggest. There is also quite a bit of frustration within the coaching ranks on this topic. His financial situation might qualify him for a fully covered tuition but I'm not going to speculate on that either way.

Now that the Ivy has canceled it doesn't matter but for a guy that is likely going pro doing a year or 2 at an Ivy is not the route I would suggest.
