This thread is a strong candidate for stupidest discussion of the year.

How do you know for sure that there are 12 scholarship players for 21-22? Please point me to that. Georgetown hasn't even published a roster for 20-21, so how can you be so sure? guhoyas.com/sports/mens-basketball/rosterIt's not that I'm operating on "ifs", it's that we are all operating on "ifs". I'm stating that none of us know the answer to all of those "ifs". -"What if Don does want to play two years for the Hoyas?" I already said in my previous post that I'm assuming he's playing for 2 years, but I don't know that for sure. -"What if we don't have an upcoming season? How does that affect scholarship players?" Well that's a can of worms I don't want to open, but I don't think any of us can assume what the roster would look like if that happened or what temporary changes the NCAA would make. -"What if the freshmen actually did sign their letter of intent and thus are scholarship players?" I already said in my previous post that I'm assuming that they are on scholarship, but I don't know that for sure. I might assume there are 12 scholarship players for 21-22, but none of us know that for sure, so I'm not going to state as fact that there is currently only 1 scholarship available in 21-22. I have to admit, now you're confusing me. I don't even know what your position is anymore. My position is that none of us know anything definitive about the scholarship situation, so we shouldn't be stating things as fact when there are so many assumptions attached to those statements. NYCHoya84 probably stated it more efficiently than I did, and you liked that post so I guess it didn't confuse you. But to pull from his post, Ewing can count to 13, so if he recruits 2 more players he knows how they fit into that 13, even if we don't know the details of it publicly. hoyatalk2.proboards.com/post/888395

So let me ask you this....why don't they just keep on recruiting players for 21-22 regardless of who has committed already? Let's try to land another 10; why stop at 2?

247sports.com/college/indiana/Article/Aminu-Mohammed-Greenwood-Laboratory-Indiana-basketball-recruiting-five-star--151043471/“Indiana calls us quite frequently. We’ve been talking to coach Miller pretty frequently over the past couple weeks,” Shawn Harmon, Mohammed’s guardian, tells Peegs.com. “We’ve been talking with Georgetown and Georgia. Those are the three schools that probably call the most “One thing I try to do as a mentor is convey to him that whatever situation he’s in, to make yourself a part of the fabric of that community, to embrace that community, to embrace the ideas that go along with that community. Because regardless of where you go in life and what profession you end up in, you have to embrace whatever it is — the ideals, the community, the people,” Harmon said. “You have to understand the vision of that institution or that corporation. You have to learn those things, and many times, that’s what sets you out above the others. It makes you a treasured commodity. Not only do you take from but you give back to when you embrace a community and its ideas and its vision. Those are things that are important to me. I want him to understand those things can be a part of the makeup of who he is as a person, not just a basketball player. “I want to be able to learn about people who have come through those institutions, who can help him become a better person, not just a better basketball player, that will help build a better future for him and for future generations of Mohammeds.

Very encouraging insight from a Georgetown perspective from guardian Harmon...fingers (and toes) crossed...any mention of a timetable anywhere?

Every fan base can and will say that about their school. True, but when viewed in the light of other comments about being close to home and wanting to go to a school with very strong academics, it definitely sounds more Georgetown-ish than those other two schools.

Every fan base can and will say that about their school. Can say what exactly? You’re implying all schools have the same level of integrity/history/tradition/cohesion/reputation? Surely not?

To say that every fan baae can and will say that about their school doesn't make it true. But, politics shows that people can and do say things patently untrue and find believers.

Just saying step outside the Hoya bubble and every fan base will say something similar. If you truly feel that somehow we have a greater combination of those attributes...well good luck convincing college basketball fans outside of the Hoya bubble. In the eyes of almost everyone Georgetown isn’t special and doesn’t offer anything different than almost every school.

I appreciate the attempt to try to be unbiased and take a look at it from a non-homer perspective but that doesn't simultaneously mean there is nothing unique or exceptional to this program. If anything, the reactions across the country this past week should show you there is indeed something VERY unique about our program, and thankfully that uniqueness happens to align with much of what Harmon has mentioned so far.

I don't know if it's enough to put us over the top, or how he feels about other schools, but I think he is fond of the legacy that Big John has created here. I think that's why people are making the assumption that these quotes are very Georgetown friendly.
