RYAN MUTOMBO IS ON BOARD. HOPEFULLY AMINU IS NEXT 🤞 It's OK to be a little more optimistic y'all. Two posts on the main page since Deke's kid signed, not even his own thread? LET'S STEP IT UP!!! Hoya Saxa, and 123 fireballs too.

I’m as optimistic as the next person, but can we not compare incoming guards to AI anymore? He’s a one of a kind!

Bump.
I had my doubts just as everybody else did but Coach Ewing (and staff) has done one hell of a job with this group.
Bile’s progress in season has been incredible. Same story with Pickett. He’s playing with a ton of confidence lately. Harris has to cut out the couple boneheaded passes he makes every game but has still impressed everybody but HoyaBoya and looks to have a very bright future. The defense is very much improved.
Can’t wait to see what we can do with the talent coming in next year.

I wonder what the chances are that some of these seniors/transfers stay for another year with the covid waiver this year. Imagine the team next year

Excited for the potential next year but this year isn't done!! Win at UConn, make some noise in BET and we could be seeing some post season for our Seniors (NIT is happening, right?)

I hope for a big run at MSG but would be very happy to at least get Patrick’s first BET win out of the way.

I will copy/paste my comment on the Xavier game thread.
I think it's hard for us watching on TV but our bigs have become a force in the BE. Okay so they don't dominate like a Patrick or Alonzo but they have learned how to control the paint, not make stupid fouls (I'm talking to you Govan) and not put the ball on the floor. Just look at how they took Butler/Xavier/Creighton/DePaul out of their games. I think if we had better guards who could feed them Q and Iggy could easily average combined 20+ points a game. We're still not an NCAA or BE championship team but I think we see an NIT bid this year (will there be an NIT?) and next year we are ranked nationally.

BT currently has us as the 34th team out. We were 43rd out prior to Xavier.
Would imagine a road UConn win gets us close to the NIT cutline of 16 teams, but would likely need at least 1 if not 2 wins in NYC to get in.
That we're even having this conversation is a credit to the staff and kids on a really nice 2nd half of the season where some real growth is being shown.

NIT is happening. 16 teams this year The media is generous calling it the "Dallas-Ft. Worth area". It's in Frisco (29 miles north) and Denton (40 miles north). Kind of like DC getting the NIT but they're actually playing it in Towson.

I assume you would have to finish .500 or above for the NIT, no? Maybe that won't matter so much since there were so few out of conference games played this year. To make the NIT you would think Georgetown would have to beat UCon, and make it to Friday in the BET. That would have them at 12-12 on the season and 10-9 against the conference. A winning record in a power league should make you at the very least an NIT team, but this is a wacky year and the conference is really poor.

Agreed that any trip to the post season involves getting to the semis of the BET. However unlikely though, I will continue to dream!

The NIT is not taking any automatic qualifiers this year (teams that won their regular season conference title but lost in the conference tournament), but it still seems pretty unlikely we could make a 16 team all at-large field.

Patrick deserves a lot of credit.
Coaches should be judged on if a team plays hard, improves and his ability to bring in top players. Ewing has delivered on those 3 things going forward to next season.
The drinking games for hearing “MOVE” & “REBOUND” are most likely resulting in many drunk Hoya fans though.

I would love to hear more offensive sets or screens being yelled out than "rebound" and "move", which is part of why I'm usually a Ewing skeptic, but I have to give him credit for the growth of the team this year even in a weakened conference.

We're going to win the Big East and get in the big dance. It will be a shocker!!
If we can play our best, anything is possible. Every team member has to be ready to step up and in to the game. Bench players have to keep the starters sharp!!!!
