Thought it would be nice to have a thread solely dedicated to positive thoughts!
I’ve been as down on the program as anybody recently but I must say with the recent little uptick in our recruiting performance I’m starting to feel a lot better about things. Really starting to feel like Coach Ewing can dig us out of this hole.
Please chime in with what you’re feeling optimistic about!

Optimistic that we are putting together a group that will work hard and come together as a group - the whole being greater than the sum of the parts and all that.
But not optimistic that this or any thread will stay focused only on the positive!

My optimism is that Coach is finding guys that fit his profile -- hard-working, tough, physical, aggressive/nasty attitude, talk about playing defense as much as offense, more athletically gifted than the average, and more fit to uptempo style of play. If I look at the 2019, 2020, and 2021 classes (so far), that seems to be the trajectory. I think that will not only lead to the players embodying his style and toughness on the court, which I think can only work in our favor, but also hopefully to the players being better fits for the program, which would benefit us long term. It also speaks to Ewing's belief in his and his staff's ability to coach up kids that have the right intangibles/physical gifts.
I was just speaking with a friend yesterday about how certain teams/cities have brands in both the pro and college ranks, and players & programs have to fit that brand to truly be embraced by the fanbase. Kawhi Leonard will never be embraced in LA the way LeBron is because he's boring. You have to entertain not just win in LA. May not be fair, but that's the LA brand. He brought up how Detroit (his hometown) embraced the Bad Boys and the tough, hard-working mentality. In college, the brand seems to be more tied to the coach. There's a reason why when a recruiting battle involves certain coaches, we assume the kid will go there. Jay Wright has a style of player that we all know fits his program (and to be fair, it took him a little bit to totally figure that out). Bob Huggins always had this. It seems from someone too young to have seen it firsthand that Big John used to have it too. I am starting to see a type of style, personality, and brand develop in the players Pat is recruiting and in the way he wants them to play. I don't think he's there yet completely and you have to have success to cement it, but it's developing and that has me optimistic.

I'm more optimistic about Coach and program than I am about the upcoming season happening.

This class is the first one for which the staff has had a solid chance to recruit kids throughout high school. That makes a HUGE difference and is one of the reasons why I reserve a lot of judgment until years five plus. That is the point at which a staff really is just starting to get its own players that it has been able to recruit on even footing into the rotation. We shall see what happens.

Cautiously optimistic that there will be a season. Cautiously optimistic that despite their rankings each of our recruits will maximize their potential. In particular Berger, if used correctly, has the potential to be an exceptional spot up shooter. Hollaway, who's versatility (enough to play point guard) is severely undervalued and I think projects him as a starter by year two maybe even this year.
Finally Danté Harris who I believe has all the boxes checked for success, toughness, proper athleticism, leadership, stroke and passing ability and is the fastest kid with the ball I've seen in sometime will be the find of the class. All their youtube highlights have me as excited and optimistic as I've been for any season in recent memory.

My biggest reason to be optimistic- we see a way forward back to prominence we didn’t have a couple weeks ago. Landing Jordan Riley totally changes our trajectory, both because he will be a stud for us and because he may have helped open the flood gates for a very strong 2021/2022 class.
With Don Carey in the mix, I suspect Georgetown will be okay this season. Not top half in the Big East level, but if a few of our guys overachieve then we will at the very least be competitive. Which quite frankly is all we need (if there even is a season). If we can look competitive, that should prevent any future 2021 decommits.
Coach Ewing, when he has had the players, has shown he can coach and win. We will have great depth moving forward at all of our positions, and hopefully by 2022 we’re looking at a tournament caliber team again. All we as fans have to do is stay patient and positive, reinforcements are coming and hopefully Coach Pat will get the chance he needs to right the ship.

After the fallout of this past season's departure of players, looks like Coach Ewing is adding depth along with experience to the young roster. Furthermore, adding the kind of players who're hungry to show and prove their worth.

I agree there is lots to be optimistic about with the Hoops news of the past two weeks. My real reason for posting is so the last post in this thread is not by someone who's nom de plume is lethal injection!

More good news with the commitment of Jalin Billingsley. Hoyas are picking up momentum. Jalin looks like he will help us!!

Man, I hope Jakai Robinson pops and if we can somehow pull off an Efton Reid or Ryan Mutumbo commitment that would be a top 5 class.

Only 3 returners logged significant minutes to date- Blair, Pickett, and Qudus. Two of those players are seniors. The 3rd has early entry possibilities.
We have witnessed the complete rebuild of the Hoyas over the past six months, and the possibilities are very promising. I think the Hoyas darkest days are behind us.

I trust coach to field a competitive, winning team. This upcoming team is more much more flexible defensively and from a match up stand point. I like us being an underdog/fighter of sorts.

Posting here to help keep the Optimism thread healthier than the Where did it go wrong thread. Why dwell on whatever might have gone wrong when we can project and support our return to a new era of glory years during this decade.

I feel the same way blueandgray!! I am pleased that we, as a Hoya fan base, get to bet on his work ethic to win the day to GU's return to prominence. I do not see him resting until his job is done.
