John Thompson always kept a deflated basketball on his desk in his Georgetown office, a reminder to his recruits of the fragility of life playing basketball.
"It's useless without 9 pounds of air," Thompson said. "Now, do you want to pin your future on 9 pounds of air? Make sure when you no longer have basketball, you have a future. Get an education."
I believe all of the signed guards believe they can handle point guard duties.
Our forwards corps tends toward the power forward category though with the exception of Sibley, their heights are of the small forward variety. But I don't know their games, ball handling mobility or shooting ability.
Our big guys are close to the basket guys, but Qudus may develop some stretch five abilities. We will see how his jumper has developed over the summer as well as his weight and strength. He's a helluva athlete! Igoeffe can handle the middle and I believe he can shoot from the fire-throw line in.
Malcolm Wilson is the unknown quantity. What offensive skills will he bring...he's a shotblocker.
What skill-set must the 13th scholarship play fulfill?
Who should that be? I vote for Efton Reid or Holmgren.
