Anglin/Bass/Riley already gone portal shopping. Let's see who else ends up there.

Can we change this thread to "Jordan Riley has entered the transfer portal"? (Anglin / Bass already have separate threads)

Can we change this thread to "Jordan Riley has entered the transfer portal"? (Anglin / Bass already have separate threads) I'll change it. I just felt like we will have a lot to add to it in the coming weeks. Especially after a coach is hired. I just love the cliche : First, I would like to thank God and my parents. I would like to thank the coaches and fans for a wonderful six week stay at your institution of higher learning. With that being said...

Can you blame any of them. Were it me, I might wait around to see the new hire, but there usage was borderline abusive (not physically, cause they hardly played...Haha)

We actually played pretty well for a stint when Heath was down and Jordan was playing D. Heath came back, the number of balls available to shoot didn't increase, and the play bottomed out.

It's weird, I would certainly leave if I were any of them. I guess I don't blame the freshman because they committed before the 0-20 debacle.
The transfers (or anyone) who came after the 0-20 debacle, I have no sympathy for. The same as I wouldn't have much or any sympathy for anyone who gets on an airplane knowing the pilot is Stevie Wonder. These people knew what they were getting into.
I look forward to when the rosters over the past two seasons are answers to trivia questions along the lines of "remember how bad we were in 2021-2023 under Ewing and we used to have [FILL IN THE BLANK]." Then we all laugh.

Then we all laugh. Instant trivia. Who is the best NBA player from the Georgetown Patrick Ewing coaching era? Hands down it is Omer Yurtseven who spent one playing year on the hilltop. MacClung has his 10 day contracts, I don't think Akinjo has sniffed the league, Pickett was on & off the Pistons roster (jury still out though and I hope he breaks through), Aminu likely never gets out of the D league. And nobody from this years team makes the league. Forget about all the Brandon Murray is a pro talk. He may be a pro, but not in this country.

Jordan's a tremendous athlete. In a nearby alternate universe... I think a Heath 2/Riley 3 lineup could've been a nice wing complement.
Gotta tighten up the offensive game to be a successful college 3, though. Maybe he can do that at his next destination. He's still got a lot of potential.

Anglin/Bass/Riley already gone portal shopping. Let's see who else ends up there. The players have to know who still has an office/key card access to the Thompson Center and who doesn't. I'd hope Anglin/Bass/Riley will consider the new hire, whoemever he is, prior to leaving Georgetown. I can't blame them for wanting a new start, but they'll get one from a new Hoyas coach regardless. All 3 seem like they could at least be bench contributors and obviously could help the APR situation, assuming that is a concern. However, if they think the culture's going to stay the same and it's just musical chairs with the head coaching position, can't blame them at all for leaving.

Is it against board rules to speculate who will stay? I know we typically haven't been able to speculate who will leave. With three underclassmen off the board, and apparently Akok/Mozone/Qudus/Wilson being part of senior day, that means we have Murray/Heath/Spears/Mutombo/Bristol/Ewewiro left. Those last six are almost all part of the travelling Nickleberry's (not 100 on Bristol since he came prior but was possibly tied to Kevin Hart's doppleganger at Howard?) except Mutombo.
If Ronny/Nickleberry/Howze are out of the door, I gotta assume the next coach is maybe looking at two players in Mutombo & Bristol left.

If Europe or China are also not possibilities then how about a Georgetown degree?

If Europe or China are also not possibilities then how about a Georgetown degree? Most of them are young and will transfer to other universities, not the league. They may even stay. I must add, I get awfully tired (being a University of California, Berkeley grad myself) of hearing about how important a Cal or G'town degree is. It is to me, and I'm sure to you, by your post, but to most (not all) FB and BB players it is not the benefit we see looking forward or back. They are primed to their sport first (not exclusively).

While primed to BB hopeful someone is in their ear 'priming' them for life and gainful employment beyond BB.

Having coached HS and travel teams for many years, my measure for success was are they better people and players at the end of the season than they were at the beginning, Patrick was one who believed that. What has happened at Georgetown is so contrary to what made Georgetown basketball. It is much more than recruiting and winning. Georgeton's Athletic Department demonstrates it has any emotional intelligence to watch out for its players. Hopefully, this is related to just basketball, but I wonder.
It is not about hiring a new coach who can win, but one that knows how to be a leader. No matter who you hire the culture will trump their ability to rebuild the program. It starts with President of the University who is responsible for the dysfunctionality that we all have witnessed. To change the culture means establishing a vision and keeping only those who accept that vision. Wish well that don't but move on.

Most players will enter the portal if the coach that recruited them leaves. More so when there is uncertainty on who the replacement is.
Even if you are planning on staying, like Ed Cooley, looking around can upgrade your NIL money.

Well might be true, if you were playing and worried about what is next, but none of the three who just announced for the PORTAL have had a good experience so why not wait to see who is next then join the portal?

Hello Mr. Jordan Riley:
I saw you with your parents when you committed to play at Georgetown. I have been a fan since then. I enjoyed watching you play and I am impressed with your growth! You have impressed me as a young man with great moral character as well as a very talented basketball player!
It was a pleasure seeing you play at Georgetown and I wish you the very best wherever you decide to play next!
Stay healthy young man, my prayers are with you!
