I definitely would not be surprised if Riley starts and has a major impact from day 1. I can see him having an impact on defense, but he’s not going to play bully ball at 6-4in the BE. Really needs a jump shot. His highlights are all slashing and dunking on midgets.

I predict that he will develop as at least a good jump shooter...his work ethic will make it happen...

I definitely would not be surprised if Riley starts and has a major impact from day 1. This. I could see it going either way because his handle doesn’t seem particularly up to par to be a day one starter at the 2, but who knows. Definitely has the ceiling to be the best player in the class and I’m sure he’ll come in ready to go. My dark horse for most productive freshman year is Beard. Kid has been playing high level basketball for a long time now.

If he doesn’t at least have the potential to play that way if he wanted to, then no incoming freshman from the BE ever has. Jordan seems like he could play DB in the SEC with his athleticism/physicality. In addition, you’re kinda implying that’s all he brings to the table on offense when that isn’t even his best strength. Playing in transition and finishing (withouggt having to bull his way to the rim) are his best offensive attributes. He can hit open jumpers and is a good midrange shooter. But yes, agreed he also has the potential to make an impact on defenses he’s raw on offense but his game is more diverse than you give him credit for.

Peak was 6’5” and bullied his way to the hoop quite successfully.

The Big East is riddled with good guards that have played bully ball. Heck, Roosevelt Jones couldn’t shoot AND only could go to one side and still was a baller in the league.

We've done well with guys who have the last name Riley at Georgetown.
Mike, Gerald.
Looking forward to see how this young man develops as a Hoya.

He beat out Duke bound 5 star AJ Griffin amongst others for this award. Riley is going to be a crucial piece of next year’s team. Hard to see him getting less than 20 mpg

Griffin has had some foot issues and chose not to risk playing in a much shortened season. Good for Joran Riley.
Griffin has had the benefit of playing alongside a bunch of high level D1 guys, which riley did not. Having seen himplay several times, he has enormous talent. Unfortunately he never gave Gtwn a real look-pretty much attracted to the Duke hype. Ironically his mother is biggest influence even though father is an NBA guy.

He's seen and played well against the highest levels of competition

In the video I have seen, Riley plays defense with his surplus of physical gifts and not his technique. If he learns to defend like Harris, he will be a monster. Aminu had quite a reputation for defense too. The ranking evaluators had him as a top defender in the class though I haven’t seen too much. When you start stacking plus defenders on a team, that gets exciting.

It sounds like he needs to work to make his jump shot more consistent, but the rest of his game sounds like it is ready now. Part of the issue the Hoyas have had defensively for the past few seasons is the lack of elite athleticism that would allow them to pressure the ball and stay in front of offensive players. It definitely sounds like Riley, Aminu and Beard all bring that and will allow the Hoyas to play more aggressive defense on the perimeter. Having guys like Tim and Ryan behind them to protect the rim will only help the team defense.
