6'5"Forward from the DMV, just finished his freshmen year just received an offer from Georgetown Malik Bowman HighlightsSee this is what I was talking about when I said Coach Ewing and his staff will soon be getting ahead of the recruiting cycle. Because he's only been coaching for four years, Coach Ewing wasn't able to break these kids from choosing other schools over Georgetown. This is because these kids have established relationships with other coaches since tenth grade or before Patrick was able to get in the kid's ears. Now coach and the staff are beginning to tap freshmen and sophomores and start to build relationships with these kids. . That two, three year relationship will payoff when the kid is ready to declare in two to three years. Secondly, Coach has got to build the team with local kids and get a top player or two nationally each year. They have got to market Georgetown as the school to go to on the east coast just like they did when Patrick arrived on campus, as a recruit/player himself. They to have sell the local kids on DC loyalty and the Georgetown pride and somehow tie that into Georgetown University and it's basketball team to get the kids to stay home. They can do this by getting basketball and non basketball alums involved in marketing. Show who are the alums of Georgetown (both scholastically and academically), put the films out (on social media) of the Georgetown legends of basketball. Georgetown marketing department has got to help by flooding social media and television on everything Georgetown. There is no way n the world that we should be losing DMV kids to the likes of Maryland, North Carolina, Kentucky or any other schools for that matter. We are DC, We are Georgetown! That should be the mantra.

Malik Bowman is one of those players you watch, and it is hard to not see his immense upside. First off, the lefty who attends Bishop Walsh stands 6-foot-8 and weighs in at 220 pounds. He has a smooth feel to his game with the ability to handle and the size and athleticism to defend up and down a line up. Schools have taken early notice of Bowman as well, “I currently have offers from Seton Hall, San Diego State, Georgetown, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wichita State,” Bowman said. Bowman finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds in his 17u matchup against Boo Williams EYBL. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/shaw-s-takeaways-big-shots-boo-williams-tip-off

Malik has been 6'5" for three or four years. He's was playing up to play post in early middle school. But, the guy can shoot like crazy and has good handles. He has had an athletic build and that has only improved and has done a good job working on improving his skills and measurement stats (vert, etc.).
Like many players around the area his is a really nice guy with his head on straight and a passion for winning.
He's had college coaches attention for years, partly because of his early growth, but also his shooting and athletic defense.

I thought about Othello but I couldn't imagine him being someone's fave Hoya. Those teams were loaded with more popular players....

He has been on a lot of different teams in the last four years. He usually was playing up a year on a team with Noah Batchelor (now at IMG and has an offer from Georgetown). There was a core three or four players that moved team to team.

The one and only leering left hander 6’9” Michael Graham.
Graham would have helped secure at least one more national title had he stayed his full four years. I strongly believe he would have helped bring 2 more NCAA championships.

Reggie & the Miracles would have been a heck of a lot more potent with a senior Michael Graham patrolling the lane.
The 1986 team with Michael Jackson, Broadnax, Reggie, Wingate and Ralph Dalton would have made more noise as well with Graham.
Graham’s run was like a meteor shower....he seemingly came from nowhere and hen suddenly was having Brent Musburger talk about him and he was ripping frown hellacious rebounds, throwing opponents around like rag dolls, elbows flared and dunking like you got more points by how hard you dunked.
His on court celebration high hive with Patrick is my favorite “moment” of all time in Georgetown history.

Growing up no the West Coast Georgetown wasn't fully on most people's radar until they won it all in '84, but a friend from high school who was a ahead of me went to play football and I got interested the '82-'83 season. Graham, Broadnax, Wingate, and Ewing were players I really liked from that '82 to '85 stretch. I was a Hoya fan from that '82 to '83 season onward. I ended up going to grad school there and arrived when Iverson did, which was amazing.

I haven't seen Malik play in about 18 months or so. He was still pushing to play wing to take advantage of his shooting and downhill drives to the basket. He played up in travel ball and changed teams because his early height he was pushed to play inside (similar to Noah Batchelor, which is why the two stuck together on travel teams). Recruiting sites list Malik as power forward and his build is a good fit, but his capabilities and skills are not used well inside. Seeing Bile, Malik's outside in game has been similar.
