Highly recommend this new podcast hosted by Chris Wright and Austin Freeman. In the 1st episodes they spent a couple of hours with PE Jr. It was very interesting to hear the inside scoop.
I enjoyed hearing how reverently they all spoke of Jonathan Wallace. I didn’t realize they all held him in such high regard.

I have all of the episode links posted in the Program Approach thread. I can try to move them over here when I have time later today, unless the admins want to move the posts over here.
On a related note, it’s a great time for Hoya fans who enjoy audio/video content, in case we wanted to make this thread about that general genre of content.
- Bobby Bancroft has about 60 episodes of his Kente Korner podcast over the past year covering everything from current news, recruiting, and memorable games. They are currently doing a weekly series with Rich Chvotkin.
- Gene Smith and Trey Dickerson have an Instagram Live series called Locker Room Talk over the past couple months that airs at 1 PM on Sundays where they host conversations with former Hoya players. They have talked with Greg Malinowski, Jessie Govan, Chris Wright, Austin Freeman, and Bill Martin, and this week they have Jagan Mosely and Eric Smith.
- Their Locker Room Talk episode spawned the Dawg Talk podcast by Chris Wright and Austin Freeman that started last week when they had a two part episode where they talked with Patrick Ewing Jr.

These are must hears for any true Hoya fan. Like folks said, a lot of inside stuff behind the curtain!
Pat Jr., Austin & Chris love this program and we have to find a way to get them a part of this program.

Spoiler.......
I can’t believe JT3 forced Jeff to leave after his junior year. I understand it but that is tough to take as a fan.

He was a top 5 pick & earned his spot on the All Rookie Team. I more surprised looking back that Green went on to the association and Big Roy Hibbert didn't join him after clearly out playing the eventual number 1 pick in the draft Greg Oden in their Final 4 matchup. After Roy gave him what looked like an easy 19 & 10, I was certain Hibbert was gone as well and shocked when he opted to return. I remember reading early reports that he was a Top 5 pick lock. The next year he went 17th to Indiana. Hope Freeman & Wright get Roy Hibbert on soon. Would love to here what his conversation was with JT3 after that Final 4 Game?

He wanted to win a NCAA Championship. He talked about how hard it was in Seattle as a rookie. Getting more emotional maturity matters too. He didn’t have to do anything.

If true, this is one hell of a blunder.

Can you provide more context for those of us who haven't listened yet?

Can you provide more context for those of us who haven't listened yet? Jeff had no intention of leaving after his junior year. Coach informed him he was leaving and basically forced him out. Jeff thought he was returning to win a championship.

Jeff thought he was returning to win a championship. Could we pump our brakes a bit on the "forced out" stuff? I listened to the episode and I'm assuming Green is talking about some conversation that he and JT3 had after he entered the draft and it was evident that he was going to be a very early lottery pick and staying in the draft would be a no-brainer - here are his public comments on staying in the draft : archive.boston.com/sports/colleges/mens_basketball/articles/2007/05/23/georgetowns_green_to_stay_in_nba_draft/"Just sitting down with my family and coach, I feel like we came to a decision that I should stay in this draft, and it would be the best thing for me after the season that the team had and that I had," Green said. "I'm in a good position to go pretty high in this draft." "The draft is June 28, and Green has until June 18 to withdraw his name. He said his decision is not "set in stone," but he also said he is starting the process of selecting an agent. Once he hires an agent, he will be ineligible to return as a player, although he said he will be back at some point to finish his degree."

Hibbert did play well against Odgen, but that was part of the plan for OSU. Freeze Jeff out because they thought nobody could hurt them like Jeff and they were right. NBA scouts probably thought the same. Hibbert had room to improve, whereas Jeff maxed out. That was the difference between the two and why Hibbert returned.

Once he hires an agent, he will be ineligible to return as a player, although he said he will be back at some point to finish his degree." This seems to be more of a coach having his players best interest at hand then forcing him out because he was sick of him. This happens a lot. Like with Jonathan Isaac who wrote "I didn’t answer, but deep down I knew what I wanted. I had gone in to talk to my coaches a few months before the draft and I told them that I wanted to come back. I told them that we had unfinished business, and that I had a few things I wanted to work on in my game. I told them I wasn’t ready for the NBA. But my coaching staff wasn’t having much of that. They were like, 'Jonathan … we will pack your bags for you, young man. You are going to the NBA.' And over time, as I came to realize that that was the best decision, I understood why they were so firm with me. They knew that opportunities like mine don’t come around for too many players and that I’d be foolish not to take it. They were right. But it hurt that they were right. Because … man, I just love Tallahassee. I love Florida State. That’s my place. I didn’t want to leave." www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/jonathan-isaac-florida-state-march-madnessLook, I think JT3 should've been fired a year before he was. I think he's an excellent man (anyone who denies that is pretty crazy), but he was a coach well past his day. There's nothing to say he was a bad guy and he clearly had Jeff's best interest at hand. Jeff could've gotten hurt and lost millions upon millions of dollars. He was only going to hurt his stock at this point. He's looking out for the best in his players and that's exactly what I would want my coach to do. It makes perfect sense and I bet many other big coaches have had to do similar things. I've heard the same thing about Zion and some other guys, so it's not exactly an uncommon thing in college sports.

Spoiler....... I can’t believe JT3 forced Jeff to leave after his junior year. I understand it but that is tough to take as a fan. Killed me when I heard that. Jt3 could have won the championship with Jeff and Jeff had no intention of leaving. And he didn’t have to go....that year the entire Florida team stayed another year to win another championship....guys were still doing that back then.

Whats more telling is Chris and Free talking about the year after, there were some players worried about their numbers more than the team winning. Chris said something to the effect " We were winning and no one was happy" and how that rolled over into the next year after they beat UConn. He didn't name names though.

Interesting to hear them be candid about recent teams playing for themselves instead of each other.
