This one is not police brutality. Instead, a guy freaking out over some signs commemorating George Floyd. I can’t even imagine the mentality that would get a guy riding a bike on a trail to lose his mind over a couple signs. Well, I know exactly the mentality but i don’t understand it at all.

No doubt another of Scumbag Don's fine people in action. We have friends who live in Bethesda. I'm going to advise them to be on the lookout for this moron.

Just a bit of brilliance and love to offset so much that's awful in our world:

"One person was injured when he tripped and fell" 🤔 The most disturbing part is that not a single officer rendered aid to an elderly man bleeding on the concrete unconscious. The one that tried was pushed away. A decent human being would have made an effort despite any superior’s order to the contrary. These are the people paid to protect and serve and they actively did the opposite. This is appalling.

Is it a gold-plated toilet? A new ABC News/Ipsos poll finds that Trump’s standing on the protests is in the toilet: Only 32 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the response to the death of George Floyd, who died under the knee of a white officer. Sixty-six percent disapprove. The ABC News poll also finds that 74 percent think Floyd’s death is a “sign of broader problems in the treatment of African Americans by police.” www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/06/05/trump-tom-cotton-are-losing-argument-new-polls-confirm-it/

Just as an example of how detached from any form of reality Trump is, he said that today is a “great day” for George Floyd because the job numbers came back better than analysts expected. Or because of an extension of the PPP bill. I couldn’t really tell from his typical inane drivel. I can assure you it is not a great day for George Floyd for any reason, but especially not for either of those reasons. He is truly a self—absorbed disaster.

I know the officers involved have been put on leave without pay. Good riddance. If your moral code is that you choose to knock down a peaceful, unarmed elderly person instead of even asking him to move, and then you walk past as he bleeds badly on the ground without bothering to see if he's okay in the slightest ... or you see this happen and you are totally cool with it, you are not morally fit to be a police officer. I particularly love the complete lack of any sense of irony or history that the defense is that they were just "following orders."

I can only assume the next move is Trump firing Esper or Esper tendering his resignation. And maybe General Milley heads off into retirement. June 5, 2020 at 6:09 p.m. EDT The Pentagon has told National Guardsmen deployed to the nation’s capital not to use firearms or ammunition, and has issued orders to send home active-duty troops that the Trump administration amassed outside the city in recent days, a sign of de-escalation in the federal response to protests in the city. Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper made the decision to disarm the guard without consulting the White House, after President Trump ordered a militarized show of force on the streets of Washington to quell demonstrations that were punctured by an episode of looting Sunday, two senior administration officials said. Trump had encouraged the National Guard to be armed. www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/pentagon-disarms-guardsmen-in-washington-dc-in-signal-of-de-escalation/2020/06/05/324da91a-a733-11ea-8681-7d471bf20207_story.html

Well, isn't that special. Truly awful stuff. These guys should be fired and charged with criminal activity.

Fr. James Martin, SJ
Martin Gugino, the 75 year old man knocked to the ground and injured by police in Buffalo, is a longtime peace activist and volunteer at the Catholic Worker, a movement dedicated to justice and peace, founded by Servant of God Dorothy Day, who also, in her long life, took to the streets to advocate for justice.
Servant of God Dorothy Day, pray for us!
