In another call, Officer Avion Lee describes how her colleague brutally beat up a man in Mount Vernon. She said her supervisor told them to concoct a story about a drug deal to justify the encounter.
The recordings were made by Murashea Bovell, an active duty cop in Mount Vernon. We broke news about alleged retaliation he faced last year for speaking out publicly against police corruption
Last year he went to the DA with his secret recordings. But, he says, a DA investigator confirmed to him that they didn't act on the tapes for 9 months. The DA's office wouldn't comment. In the meantime, several people went to prison as prosecutors sat on what they knew.
Defense attorneys + some former prosecutors argue the DA's office committed major constitutional violations by failing to mention the allegations. Other prosecutors argue they should have at least delayed or dropped cases until they could figure out what was going on.
Instead, the DA's office argued, people who now know about these allegations (because of our reporting) can ask for their convictions to be reviewed, or if their investigation ever substantiates anything they'll do a review themselves.

To use the Bible in a photo op, after clearing peaceful protestors from Lafayette Park with, The Hill reported, “tear gas and smoke bombs hissing” so he could walk to a church, was simultaneously unhelpful to the current situation and at odds with the message of that Bible. Republican Senator Ben Sasse described it as “photo op that treats the Word of God as a political prop.” But what Trump did on the steps of St. John’s is what most pastors around the country remind their congregations not to do. The Bible will be as useful to you displayed on the fire mantle as it will when held aloft outside a church. Jesus himself warns against this in Matthew 6, cautioning to “beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them.” In other words, God is not pleased when we use the Bible as an ornament to be seen by others. A Bible in a photo op was not the Bible we needed. www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2020/june/bible-is-not-prop.htmlI asked a Monsignor (grade school/high school classmate of mine) if he will be taking pictures with his bible on his church's steps. He replied "I’m afraid my bible isn’t in such pristine shape - because it’s used!"

EasyEd, sincere question: who are you going to vote for the U.S. Senate seat in S.C. in November? Graham or Cunningham? Sincere answer: Cunningham is not running for the Senate. Second sincere answer: none of your business.

In view of your often name calling and insults of Trump and those who voted for him and those who support some of his agenda, maybe you ought to keep reading Matthew to 7:1. I’m not a big fan of “canceling”, but I am at the point where I’m not going to even acknowledge his comments anymore. He asks questions and gets upset when people don’t answer immediately. People eventually respond, and he doesn’t even acknowledge answers; then he refuses to answer legitimate questions posed to him. If he hadn’t been here so long, I’d just call him a straight up troll. Appeals to religion, morality, and reason have zero effect on him. It’s gotta be difficult to be on the wrong side of every issue. I can’t imagine how he keeps so many contradictory thoughts straight.

What parts of Trump's agenda do you support? Are those parts of agenda that important to ignore his racism, fascism, and idiocy? None of your business. Since SS posted a quote from the Bible, I merely attempted to draw attention to another section of it. Message: be careful when you selectively choose a passage because other sections may bite you. Edited. All sides, back off on this one.--Admin

And to call, or imply someone is a liar?

Very good read in my opinion...
But hashtags are easy and fleeting, requiring little action and replaced by the next cause. The question, really, is the same one posited by the administrator who stared at the despicable letter in Taylor’s hands. What do you want me to do? College basketball offers a unique platform, intersecting with young men at the doorstep to the real world, and populated largely by black players (56 percent, according to the NCAA’s database). But it is not led by black men. They are the ones who field the calls when social injustice simmers over to boiling, but of the 353 Division I head coaching jobs in 2018-19, 249 belonged to white men.
“It’s going to take people who don’t look like us to assist us,’’ Moton says. “I’ve done Coaches vs. Cancer, the ice bucket challenge for ALS, the bracelets for Sandy Hook. What I tweeted, it’s to coaches. Man, you have generational wealth from kids who have the same complexion as George Floyd. Your grandkids’ grandkids can eat because a kid who looks like George Floyd can shoot a basketball or run with a football. These kids need you more than ever. That’s the only way change is going to be provoked.’’

Actually, the police officer shot in Las Vegas and is in critical condition is the best friend of my wife's friend's son. 29 years old. So, yes, this is not called for. My wife's friend an ICU nurse) asked me to pray for him, and I will. It is time for the police and the protesters to step back. It is time for respect. A lot of this is on the police's side. But on the other side, it is not the protesters, but the fringe groups, who think looting and violence are a good thing to promote chaos. The looting hurts the minorities and the immigrants as much as it hurs anybody else. I appreciate you making the point that there's different groups at work here. I've been to 3 marches out here in LA already. All have been well over 1,000 people. The one I went to on Saturday was probably 20K, and the one I was at in Hollywood today was probably 3-5000. On Saturday some knucklehead threw a rock through the window at Whole Foods. As soon as it happened he got threatened and chased away. Today while we're walking 2 kids that weren't even with the group started tagging random businesses with graffiti. When the people in the crowd saw them they yelled at them and chased them off. The kids told them to f off and walked down a side street. You have people marching for change and you have other people using that as cover to start a bunch of mess. It's getting lumped into one group, but it's not. In the case of the looters they are just using the fact that the police are occupied with the protestors to their advantage. Police are watching the protestors and the criminals are around the corner committing crimes. And this basically mirrors what I said in my last post. The looters and arsonists are not out there because anyone was killed by the police. I would like to post Steve Lopez's article from today's LA Times, but because I'm a computer illiterate, I can't figure out how to do it. It's a worthwhile read where Lopez interviewed his 75 year old barber and other members of LA's black community. Good for you for joining the protests. As a 69 year old man with breathing issues and a wife who is a cancer survivor, I will not be joining any protests due to COVID fears. Stay safe.

Hands up, on TV, doesn’t matter. Still arrested.
