Surprising commit but he seems to be a good shooter, good size and a coach’s son. It seems to me like PE is really taking the “long view” in this freshman recruiting class and placing a premium on good character, coachable guys who play efficiently.

Smart player but think it’s a stretch to call him a pg right now. Never know how kids are going to develop, but I see more of a Malinowski type of role down the line. Another poster mentioned Sean McDermott and that might actually be a better comparison.
He does see the game well and is a good passer so who knows. Weston plays a national schedule and has tons of hm talent so Plenty of game footage on him.

All the guys signed so far for this upcoming class can handle to some extent and move the ball.

From Ron Bailey’s posting (not behind paywall):
A 6'4", 170 pound combo guard that helped Westtown achieve it's 24-7, state championship resume this season, Berger dropped 14 points, four rebounds and 3.5 assists er game, while sinking 46% of his three point shots

It amazing that he shoots threes at such a high clip, especially as he takes many from way behind the line. Kid’s got deep range.

Are we sure he got a scholarship? He doesn't "need" one. I'll reserve the rest of my comments once that question is answered.

Good late commit. If the guy can shoot anywhere close to 40% at the D-1 level, he will get immediate minutes. We needed a guy who could shoot, and seems like we may have gotten one.

247sports.com/college/georgetown/Article/Class-of-2020-Point-Guard-TJ-Berger-Commits-to-Georgetown-147088645/Notably, Berger was teammates at Westtown School with two top-30 recruits in the Class of 2021, guard Jalen Warley and center Franck Kepnang. Georgetown has offered both these players, and hosted Kepnang at a game this past season. Berger's dad, Seth, is also the head coach at Westtown. In addition to playing with Warley and Kepnang, Berger has also played alongside some other impressive players at the high school level, including Mo Bamba (Texas), Cam Reddish (Duke), Jalen Gaffney (UCONN) and Brandon Randolph (Arizona). Berger came to Westtown School as a 5-foot-9 guard, and hit a massive growth spurt, reaching 6-foot-3 as a senior. He was named a team captain as a senior, and was named first team All-Friends School League as a junior and a senior.

Maybe another Robin comp to Batman Warley and Kepnang.
6’4” guard, 46% from 3 over a season, State champ = **** to me
