Williamson's attorneys will almost certain object to the request for admission (at least initially). And in all likelihood, all discovery will be covered by a protective order. So don't get your hopes too high that this is going to produce a bombshell anytime soon.

If any of this is close to being credible; Coach Ollie's infractions weren't even close and you see what happened to him. I think this is one place where it's apt to pull the Race Card. Kevin Ollie had the book thrown at him and his career destroyed for much less while white coaches like Coach K, Bill Self, Roy Williams, Sean Miller, Will Wade get off with a slap of the wrist. Considering how few African American coaches there are in the power 5 conferences/big six this separate but unequal treatment is extremely egregious by the NCAA. theundefeated.com/features/where-are-the-black-basketball-coaches-in-the-power-5-conferences/Professor, I wonder if it is race or stature that comes into play here? Pitino falls in line with those coaches and got dropped but the evidence was more damning and couldn't be refuted. This sounds like a Brian Bowen situation but with less evidence. I think Pitino got bounced because first it was the strippers, then the Bowen thing (could be reverse). Now the reason fewer minority coaches have had the chance to rise to the stature of the epic cheaters you mention above is certainly a race issue.

Stature can certainly help in avoiding punishment but if you look at Sean Miller and Will Wade they are both young coaches like Kevin Ollie. Both are less accomplished then Kevin Ollie, who has won an NCAA championship, yet have escaped punishment for infractions that are more serious than anything Kevin Ollie did. Yet Kevin Ollie was given the coaching equivalent of the SMU Death Penalty. What that basically says is that if you are one of the few African American coaches out there that you have to run a squeaky clean program compared to a white coach and already that puts you at a competitive disadvantage given the rampant cheating in the NCAA.

Players will be able to make money from their likeness - jerseys with their names, images in video games, etc. - I think commercial endorsements although I have not read the specifics yet. I don't think schools will be able to woo players with no-show or overpaid jobs for their family members, new houses or free rentals, a tractor, etc. They won't need to do any of those things with the commercial endorsements passed. They can basically shovel all of the money through that pipeline legally. Although theoretically true, there are still gonna be some moms and dads that want their own $$$.

Pitino's "late night Italian dinner" didn't help either.

collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2020/05/11/zion-williamson-lawsuit/The public intrigue into Zion Williamson’s current lawsuit and legal battle has nothing to do with Zion Williamson himself and everything to do with smearing the glossy veneer of the Duke basketball program.
That’s the truth. At this point, it does not appear that there is much evidence proving that Zion accepted illegal benefits. When asked by Dana O’Neil of The Athletic if they have any proof of wrongdoing, Ford’s attorney said, “We have ideas, opinions and some leads of our own. We are looking for information to support our case. This is what we want to know.”

I honestly came to conclusion about 2005ish that for Basketball any player in the Top-50 there is money/benefits exchanging hands. That was because of some people I was in their orbit and things I was told.
So my thing is how little these families get out of these backroom deals. Its like you are going to gamble your kids reputation for a few bucks? Brian Bowen getting $100K okay cool, sounds about what I would think. But his Dad only got $15K to sign? WTF? I mean I would think if it was my kid $30K to sign, $50K upon signing, and $20K for him to show up to practice the 1st day.
Like we have a couple dozen rental properties, If my kid was top recruit, I have so many ways to get some real money, out of a booster and grow that to something more. These families ask for vacations, car, rental homes. Some are smart enough to ask for a job. But seriously all these players families are that hard up, a house to rent is all they need to transact on their kid's good name?
Its mind blowing honestly.
