With these sorts of revenue declines, I wouldn't put money on UConn football existing in 2021 either (not that UConn is Big Blue, but you get the idea): UConn negotiated a nice TV deal from CBS Sports Network, which will broadcast every UConn home game through 2023. Of course, you may ask why someone in St. Louis will be interested in Middle Tennessee vs. the Huskies next season, but it's more about content for CBSSN at this point. Other than ND on NBC and BYU TV, it's the best possible deal an Eastern independent could get. By contrast, UMass home games are on an OTT (streaming app) provider. www.theuconnblog.com/2020/5/11/21254675/uconn-huskies-football-announces-tv-deal-with-cbs-sports-through-2023

I would think SEC Football would go to a bubble. There's just too much TV money involved for them not to. There would be too much risk using an MLB style Popped Bubble.

theathletic.com/1980558/2020/08/10/college-basketball-nonconference-schedule-national-covid-19-coronavirus/For those without a subscription, proposal for the non-conference to be six games in mini bubbles by geographical location. 44 "pods" for 357 schools to be played during the extended thanksgiving break. They avoided putting any teams from same conference in same location Hoyas "bubble" Site: Washington, D.C. A Arena: Capital One Arena Teams: American, Delaware, Delaware State, Georgetown, Howard, Liberty, Maryland, Richmond It's an interesting and thoughtful proposal...that somehow makes me more pessimistic. This doesn't seem remotely possible and I don't think it's going to be just business as usual flying around the country.

Is there a reason why there are two Delaware schools and Richmond in there instead of, say, GWU and Howard?

Is there a reason why there are two Delaware schools and Richmond in there instead of, say, GWU and Howard? Howard is in this group, and as for GW I think it's because Richmond was placed in our region and they didn't want to teams from the same conference in the same block, in a perfect world and Richmond is easily the best team in this grouping, so it would help everyone.

Is there a reason why there are two Delaware schools and Richmond in there instead of, say, GWU and Howard? From what I understand this is just a proposal. No schools are solidified in any particular bubble. Howard was listed in this specific example. GWU & George Mason were not included in this example as the parameters specify that only one team per conference be in each bubble. Richmond, GWU, George Mason are all A-10 Conference. If they go with this non conference bubble plan, the NCAA Tournament Committee will have to make adjustments to the their evaluation tools as teams can't control their schedule, thus the application of strength of schedule needs to be reevaluated.

Is there a reason why there are two Delaware schools and Richmond in there instead of, say, GWU and Howard? Sorry just to clarify, this is simply a proposal by journalists. There were two separate DC pods and they tried to break up the conferences

Yeah I understood that it was just a writer’s proposal. My bad on missing Howard on the list somehow.

I thought Howard and Delaware St were both MEAC schools..... The scenario is more nuanced than "avoiding teams from the same conference in a pod". -Eight teams per pod, at most sites -Six games per team, in a round-robin format -Conference matchups avoided Given those parameters, you can have up to two teams from the same conference at a site, and they just wouldn't play each other as part of the 6 games (8 teams means up to 7 matchups, so the team in the same conference would be the skipped matchup).

I thought Howard and Delaware St were both MEAC schools..... That's what led me astray with the Howard question. I read quickly, saw Delaware State, and thought it was an odd pick for the MEAC representative with Howard so close.

Is there a plan a bubble, or series of bubbles planned?

So Nebraska’s football coach is arguing that they should play football because the players would be safer at school than out in the community where their exposure risk would be higher. Can I just say that it is so sad that we have screwed the management of this virus up so badly that a coach can make this statement without being immediately dismissed as crazy. We should have had near zero community spread at this point and been able to play football. However, as a nation, we didn’t do the work and now things like football games are a luxury we can’t afford. Basketball may be the same if we don’t get our act together.
