"We are still planning on starting the season right now on schedule on November 10th.." - no leader at any level of any institution in this country wants to level with people.
Meanwhile, in reality MLB is telling broadcasters to start prepping alternative content for next week because baseball in all likelihood is shutting down. MLB is teaching us that you cannot run a sports league outside of a bubble - and we have to wait until the contact tracing is reported, but it's most likely because players didn't take the protocol seriously.
I'm a pessimist, so my guess is that the NBA is probably going to teach us that you cannot run a sports league inside of a bubble without treating the bubble like a prison. I don't think Lou Williams is going to be a singular incident, and whatever people do to jeopardize the bubble by going outside of it doesn't have to be going to a strip club. It could be completely non-salacious and still take the bubble down.

English Premier League just finished up there season and they had the same setup as MLB with no problems. So it can work. But I think in the US any sports league really needs to just go to a NBA bubble set up.

They tell them put on a mask it will save your lives. Guess what They do? They put on a mask. That tell them social distance and close business... guess what They do? They understand the greater good over what about my rights! They don't put $$$ over the lives of people! That's why Florida and Texas are each getting 3X the amount of daily positive COVID cases as the entire European Union. Outside of the NBA who is doing it right in the bubble, I have no faith that the other sports leagues (college included) will complete their seasons if they even start them at all.

It all stems from the introduction of sliced bread in 1928, Before that, Americans had to cut their own bread if they wanted to make a sandwich. It inevitably led to the softness and lowering of standards we see today.

Our society’s response has been a shocking illustration of our moral decay. All so true. My brother-in-law is quite close to an AAU coach out of Utah who just lost one of his players--a talented 2020 4* recruit from New Mexico murdered at a large party at someone's home Friday night in violation of all that state's restrictions on gatherings. People just don't get it.

It inevitably led to the softness and lowering of standards we see today. And the standards got raised again during WWII when bakeries had to stop cutting bread because the steel used in the cutters was diverted to military use.

Your right, the NHL has also done a good job with their bubbles and putting them both in Canada was a wise decision.

Dominoes anyone? Without a conference, UConn cancels football in 2020, by Nick Bromberg, Yahoo Sports "UConn won’t be playing football in 2020. The school, which was facing an independent schedule this fall after leaving the American Athletic Conference, announced that it had canceled the 2020 football season Wednesday morning. UConn is the first top-level college football program to announce that it’s not playing football this year as the coronavirus pandemic makes playing a regular football season nearly impossible this year." sports.yahoo.com/without-a-conference-u-conn-suspends-football-in-2020-122329990.html

Villanova has two open dates. Georgetown has at least two open dates in 2021 and more in upcoming years. UConn should schedule Villanova and Georgetown in the future, if not 2021. (Note: Holy Cross is also on Uconn's schedule)

UConn football has been in trouble for some time, and this just seems to be accelerating that. Do they have a financial path forward? I assume playing as an independent they get little to no TV revenue for football (which is probably countered by the higher money for basketball than they got in the AAC).

This would be perfect for this year. It would give the players the chance to play in a healthy environment. The spotlight wouldn't shine that bright which would be good for a new group like this and we can build out with some real life experience for 21.

And they won't be deer-in-the-headlights at hostile courts because they won't be playing in front of any hostile crowds.
