Great post. The only thing I'd add would be that while Collins is great and hopefully is one of our top targets in '21 (along with Ryan Mutombo and a couple others), he is ranked 66th in the country on Rivals and 70th on 247. That's by no means out of our range, and in fact is the exact range we should be focusing in on. Ewing has landed players in that range on a couple other occasions, and there are dozens of examples every year of teams coming off of disappointing seasons landing recruits in the 50-100 range. I'm not sure why Collins interest in Georgetown--which is obviously real given that he took an official visit--is so difficult to believe. Let’s see if he jumps into the 20 class and becomes a Hoya. If that happens then like I said I’d be curious to know his reasoning. He isn’t a senior where time is running out to make a decision. He’s a junior looking at making move to a program that is currently a 50-100 range school. That’s not a normal move. Ok, you can’t understand why he might want to be a Hoya. I guess I can’t understand someone that bashes the school over and over would call themselves a fan? You can dislike Ewing. Think the school is on the wrong trajectory. Etc. Fine, I have no problem with that. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt you are a supporter of the school, so why is it so impossible to believe a kid might want to come here when (allegedly) you have some reason to root for the school? Why does this kid have to see things the way you see them? And a final question, why does your constant harping that the kid can’t possibly want to come here make it sound like you don’t want him to? Maybe state your point and then see what happens? I promise, everyone here knows your position. I just don’t understand a fan wanting us to fail.

Do you not realize that landing kids like Collins help get the program to that level? Absolutely. That’s why I’m amazed that people are overlooking my prevailing thought here. What’s he see in the program that no other top 50 kid has? Why is he able to look past all the negativity that surrounds the Hoyas and still be strongly considering them? I guess too many Hoya fans can’t accept what the program has become and have to lash out when it’s questioned. IDenj I don't know why you don't find it refreshing that a kid may want to plant his own flag. I always use the example when talking to kids that "you can be Carmelo or Anthony Davis". Both were 1nD kids that led their universities to C'ships. One of them is a demigod at their school and the other is that guy that led us to a C'ship that one year. If I was a kid that believed I could get to the L no matter what major offer I accepted I would try to be the former. And before someone says it, I know we should never want to be like anything Syracuse...😁

Any of my comments about Pat have been positive. Any comments about the program are a direct result of the where the program stands, bottom of the league. Pointing out the staff has not turned things around at this point is based on reality. Point out where I said I want the program to fail.

Just said I would like to see his reasoning for graduating early to come to Georgetown.

I agree that Davis is just another "jersey in the rafters" for UK fans, but I have plenty of Cuse relatives (unfortunately), and they aren't remotely reverential re: Carmelo. Partly, I think it's a racist thing - they love them some GMac. And partly, I don't think a 1nD can achieve iconic status anywhere; it's simply too much of a business decision play.

Yeah, if Frankie actually does read this thread, I would think that the 2 or 3 pages of back and forth in response to a single post would be more head-scratching than the original post. ID probably could have just said that he would be interested in why a highly (or at least moderately highly rated) player would seriously consider a program that has been down for 5 years with no particular signs of rising, without going into quite as much detail about the "down". But even if others saw his post as a shot at the program or the coach, read some other schools' message boards - there are questions or even negative comments about pretty much any recruit who is not a top 25 kid, fans have their own favorites that they prefer to other kids their team is recruiting. I think a high school kid, who is familiar with the plusses and minuses of the current world of social media, won't be affected by one or two negative comments - as opposed to an ongoing argument about the negative posts that serves to highlight those negatives over and over.

I wonder what the national number one HS player in 1981, who could have gone to Indiana or North Carolina or anywhere saw in Georgetown. Whatever it was, maybe it's what he's showing to recruits today.

again we have taken a thread that should be about any new information that maybe going on here with this young recruit and make it about our personal thoughts on how a coach, staff, program, recruit, ...etc should or should not be handled.
Yes, some young recruits would take some of this as shots.

Looks like a smooth player with great handles and good looking shot.
Would be a difference maker for the program to land him.

Agree — Waheed has done a great job with Collins. Time for Pat to close the deal in the early signing period next fall!
