Well done, John, well done...for those of us old enough to remember what it was like, this is a welcome trip down memory lane. And for those HoyaTalk posters who are too young to remember Big Sky, Bay Bay, Sleepy and Hoppy, I urge you to check these game films out.

HoyaChris asks: three of several hundred questions.
1.) Would the Derrick Jackson game winner against West Virginia be a 3 point shot today?
2.) Any idea what the ref was thinking on Jon Smith's offensive vs. Central Michigan?
3.) Is the 75-76 game at McDonough against St Johns in the collection - the freshman Al Dutch goes for 27 game?
Just saw these questions/sorry for delay! Answers are (1) DJ’s jumper only a two still today —about a 15 footer on wing close to baseline (a bit of a bad angle on video, so can’t quite see where on floor he was/camera is under far basket. Literally only film with such a view in the collection. Damn hillbillies,,,) (2j Smith did have some slight forward momentum on jumper from top of key — but Central Michigan kid clearly moved under him and then flopped to boot. Not a defensive foul but assuredly not an offensive and NO WAY one blows the whistle to decide the game. Ref just blew it — or went to Central Michigan. (3) the 75-76 win over the Johnnies is in the group. One of games I never saw at all but whenI index will try to tag an exemplar or two of Al’s great game... (I don’t know how to more smoothly do the quote thing on the site —sorry!)

CBS, instead of showing the NCAA tournament this year, is showing past Final Fours. The first one was Georgetown vs UNC in 1982. Of course, the press conference on the coronavirus pre-empted the rest of the game. On a positive note the Hoyas were winning at the time of the switch over to the presser. I hadn't realized how James Worthy carried UNC in the first half, 10 of his points coming from Pat's goal tending calls.

Worthy was never given the credit he deserved during his college and NBA career. A really great player. And a really great championship game. Just think of the talent on the UNC team and how good we were to take them to the buzzer. I know that game is considered by many to be the greatest championship game ever.

Worthy had 28 and was the difference in that game. The revisionist history around Jordan’s college career is legendary. He won nothing at UNC without Worthy. Nothing. He was the 5th best player on the floor in the ‘82 final. Credit where due for the Last shot, but enough already.

Being the fifth best player on the floor when you're playing with veterans James Worthy, Sam Perkins and Sleepy Floyd and freshman Ewing is nothing to sneeze at (and an accurate assessment, by the way). And he was a frosh who took and made the shot with the national championship on the line, so he's entitled to major credit for that. If only Freddie Brown.... Also, not your comment, Elvado, but will address it here anyway - Worthy was not underrated as a pro. He did make the list of the NBA's 50 greatest players, and he definitely benefitted from playing with Magic and Kareem. And Angelenos still address him as Big Game James, so not underrated here.
