It's Greg and there's not really a close second imo. Coach of the year is more so about whether you exceed expectations. Wright and Willard are doing well but Creighton right now looks like one of the most dangerous teams in the country. Ewing is also exceeding expectations by keeping us competitive with basically just five guys, but sadly I think he'd have to make the tournament to even be considered for it.

McDermott is a huge favorite. Second I'd say is between Pat and LaVall Jordan of Butler. Though injuries have derailed that team, Aaron Thompson means so much to them, they have exceeded expectations greatly. Butler was not supposed to be a ranked team. Butler was not supposed to be a top-half Big East team. They definitely are that at full strength. If you want to say a great coach is one who, like Pat to a certain extent, overcame these guys leaving and still had a competitive team, that's a fair argument.

McDermott is the favorite but Jay Wright should get some recognition as well. They're loaded next year but this year was a reach. Player of the Year? Myles Powell over Markus Howard.

I thought Mike Brey always won that award.

If Providence wins out it should be Ed Cooley.

Player development is one of Wright's strongest attributes but probably hurts him in coach of the year voting because it happens outside of games. If 2018/19 Bey and Gillespie were out there, Nova would likely be a middle of the pack team. I'd like to see this team if Mac improved is overall play/efficiency and Pickett improved his 3pt shooting by 7-8% and tightened his handle. hm
