Unlike Chicago, Fiserv is a venue where the Hoyas have been reasonably successful. Share the ball, rebound and limit second chances and good things will happen.

I applaud your optimism, but at this point it is pretty clear our only chance at any more wins will require us to shoot over 50% from 3, and the opposing star to have an off night. Hard to see both things happening Wednesday.

I think 35%-40% would do it
Especially if yurt gets back to 80% of himself. Think last night he was at 50

Play tough, play confident, play with nothing to lose. Contain Howard or shut the other guys down. Make Howard play defense. Marquette typically slumps around this time of year recently, and they have lost three straight (granted three very difficult games) so hopefully, that continues. Be aggressive.

Unless Mac and Yurt return at 100% we are toast. I don't see either thing happening so I'd write this game off and hope that a win next Sunday against Xavier, a huge home court upset of Nova, and one win in the BE tourney while not getting us a bid, will at least keep hope alive and make the off season bearable.

Injuries and minutes have taken their toll. We are starting to really struggle at the end of games. I think opponents are gaming this, as they should.

There is a reason why we play the games. Prepare the best you can. Give your best effort on Wednesday night.
I thought we had little chance last year after the DePaul blowout but the Hoyas won.
I just hope that someone leads with the energy and body language all night. We can totally do this.

Stop forcing shots. And play some defense. Then we have a chance.

I think we always have a shot. When our guys are playing well, we can hang with anyone.
Granted I think our probability is low, but we always have a shot
Hoping we somehow get healthy though!

Howard broke our defense last time. Marquette was very well prepared to handle our pick and roll defense. I'm at the point where I'd much rather see us blitz Howard and make someone else beat us. We can't do the same thing as last game and act surprised when we get the same result.
Yurt7 had 22/11 and got both of their bigs in foul trouble, Mac scored 24 and it wasn't enough. Will have to be a different formula to be in the game this time.

Time to play junk ball. We can't play pressure defense due to our depth so lets see some extended zone. Our offense can't get anything going so lets see some hectic high off-ball movement chaos.

Will have to be a different formula to be in the game this time. I think you have to give him multiple looks, but this is one I want to see very often. Markus Howard should not be able to beat us. If Sacar Anim and Koby McEwen combine for 40 points after we blitz Howard every time and the Hoyas lose, I am fine losing that way. If Howard scores 40 on some relatively easy shots (for him) with us doing the exact same hard hedge/screen and roll coverage every time where he is able to get up a solid shot, I will be very angry.

Twenty two hours since last post to this thread. Has Hoya Talk given up? I'm sure the coaches and players haven't.

I mean I covered everything I wanted to say. Contain Howard and give him different looks. Blitz the screens and don't let him kill you (again). Keep this one close and maybe even steal it. We hope the players come back and are pumped to play this one. Don't be scared. Play aggressively. Backs against the wall. How do you come out for this one?
As for Marquette's team, I still think McEwen is the X factor. Mosely/Allen guard Howard and slow him down with different looks on screen and rolls (I don't think I've said this enough if he gets the same look every time and it's a hard hedge, the same one he saw every time last game I might break my TV) and contain him to around his season average on points and hopefully keep him below his season average FG% wise. But McEwen seems to score significantly more in Marquette wins than in their recent losing streak. Slowing Howard down as 42 points on 31 shots shooting 45.2% is bad. Also, he took the most shots he's taken in a regulation basketball game, No OT, against us this season. Because he kept getting open. So don't let that happen again. He also took 6 shots in the overtime against Providence, so it's the most shots he's taken in regulation of any game at the NCAA level. So, we let Markus Howard shoot the ball, while not hutting down everyone else around him. I don't like that.
So uhh don't let Howard shoot it a ton and hope Allen/Mosely slow down both Howard and McEwen. Play hard and beat them inside. Make Howard play defense. Go win this one.

The only other thing I'll add is Red Panda is the halftime performing act. We better have a first half lead because the crowd will be fired up after that performance.

She was at Providence on New Year's Eve when they put the beatdown on the Hoyas.
