Make it five straight weeks atop the Associated Press Top 25 for Baylor. The Bears improved to 23-1, with a 22-game winning streak, after a 52-45 win at Texas and a 70-59 win against then-#14 ranked West Virginia. Gonzaga remained in the #2 slot after an 89-77 victory at Pepperdine; Kansas continued as #3 in the rankings after a 58-49 win at then-#14 ranked West Virginia and an 87-70 win against Oklahoma; San Diego State is #4 again, after improving to 26-0 with an 82-59 win against New Mexico and a 72-55 win at Boise State. Dayton now rounds out the top five, moving up one slot from #6, after an 81-67 win against Rhode Island and a 71-63 win at Massachusetts.
There are, again, five Big East Conference teams ranked in the AP Top 25. Villanova moved up three slots to #12 after a 72-71 win at then-#18 ranked Marquette and a 76-56 Big Five win at Temple. Creighton advanced eight spots to #15 after an 87-82 victory at then-#10 ranked Seton Hall and a 93-64 romp over DePaul. Seton Hall fell six slots to #16 after the home loss to Creighton and a 74-71 loss at Providence. Marquette dropped one spot to #19 after the home loss to Villanova, and Butler fell two slots to #21 after a 66-61 win against Xavier and a 73-66 loss to Georgetown. There are no other Big East Conference schools receiving any votes in this week’s rankings.

Louisville fell six slots to #11 after road losses at Georgia Institute of Technology (64-58) and at Clemson (77-62). Illinois, formerly #22, fell out of the AP Top 25 after extending its losing streak to four games with a 70-69 loss against Michigan State and a 72-57 loss at Rutgers. Texas Tech, formerly #24, dropped out of the rankings after an 88-42 win against Texas Christian and a 73-70 loss at Oklahoma State. Louisiana State, formerly #25, fell out of the Top 25 after an 82-78 win against Missouri and an 88-82 loss at Alabama. The Illini, Red Raiders and Tigers have been replaced at the bottom of the AP Top 25 by Brigham Young, Arizona and Ohio State. The Cougars are ranked for the first time at #23 after road wins at Loyola Marymount (77-54) and San Diego (72-71); the Wildcats return at #24 after road wins at California (68-52) and Stanford (69-60); the Buckeyes return to the rankings at #25 after home wins over Rutgers (72-66) and Purdue (68-52)
