To further illustrate Rockaway’s point above regarding Timmy’s 2 mins stretch here are 3 consecutive offensive possessions for Ighoefe: Offensive board & put back, sealed his man to free the lane for a Mosely layup and offensive board & putback. Hard to overstate just how critical the mins and production were to pull out the W.

Still hard to put into words what we saw yesterday. I was there for the Caprio OT game in 2014 and yesterday topped even that in terms of how unbelievable it was. Hinkle was packed to the brim and there's decidedly a new level of animosity between the two programs that we may have not seen in the early years of the new BE. Playing each time twice per season has definitely bred familiarity as well as contempt, and you could see that new hatred brewing on the court at the end of the game too. Have seen this in numerous games this year. It's good for the league. Shout out to Ewing for managing minutes for a depleted roster and saving his timeouts to maximize rest. Thought he used Timmy and George exactly as he should have. He was masterful in switching between man and zone and even threw out the occasional press (forced a Butler timeout at halfcourt) to keep them off balance. Slowing down the game also allowed our guys to keep their legs till the end. Something to consider doing in upcoming games as well. Just a smart game from the staff all around. Very happy for Pickett to bounce back with a strong game. Outside stroke looked confident, ran the floor for a key fast break late and got some key rebounds. Think he lucked out a few times going under on some screens which left Mcdermott open, but we were lucky Mcdermott was off all night from outside. Others have already noted the offense early on worked a lot better relying on motion and guards taking open shots instead of pounding it down low at all costs. Think this needs to continue even after Yurt and Mac return. The guards were onions all game in terms of hitting big shots and taking care of the ball. The softer hedge was also key. The Butler bigs did not do any damage rolling off the screen. If we give up mid range 2s, it's a win every time. Timmy was a bit late on a lot of his defensive possessions, but he did what he reasonably could on little experience in big spots. Timmy's minutes from the time Q left with his 4th with 6 min remaining until Q reentered late were flat out enormous. I think it's still a risk to leave him overexposed for long periods of time, but I was ecstatic with the effort, especially on the offensive glass. Next step is to make sure he's not being too overzealous on the hedges. Still a lot of contact that he's going to draw whistles for. Blair's 3 to answer Mcdermott's 3 was the play of the game. The roof was about to collapse on us but that was as big of a get off the mat moment as there's been all season. Biggest win of the Ewing era, IMO. Know Nova was ranked higher when we beat them at home, but the sheer importance of this game for our NCAA hopes coupled with playing shorthanded in a hostile road environment makes this one tops for me. Congrats to the team and staff for a monumental effort yesterday. My favorite bit of animosity was Q stiff-arming McDermott into next week while chasing down a loose ball in the corner that led immediately to a critical triple. Great hustle play, can't stand McDermott (think it's mainly the very weird tattoo) and it was an obvious foul - those things seem to so rarely go our way. It was awesome!

Hey that's what makes a rivalry. Like Michael Graham taking a swing at a Syracuse punk, the ref signalling a technical, then the other refs convincing him to rescind it.

His tattoos suck but they're a delight in comparison to his whiny attitude. Dude looks for a bail-out call on every single play. He reminds me of D'Angelo Harrison in that regard. Hated his a$$ too. Though, to be fair, Harrison's story off the court is worth a read. Pretty impressive what he overcame. Thankfully, I didn't learn about that until after he graduated so I could just let the hate flow freely. I realize that I should be more mature than that but, well, swing and a miss.

The difference between winning and losing was making two-thirds of our threes instead of our normal.

I don’t think they were better looks in general. We have gotten good looks most of the tine, we just have been missing a lot of our threes. Pickett for one was shooting ~20%...he is better shooter than that. Not 50%, but 30s. Allen is mid to high 30s, and he was below that rate also. Blair is a 40% er guy. But he’ll have games over 50 and in the 30s We were just missing them

As Coach has said on many occasion, we have guys who can make those shots. They need to make those shots.

So, time to claw back those wins we "should" have had by winning ones no one expects us to!
