Don't know why he's bothering - hasn't he heard that we are going to suck next year and further? All of the HoyaTalk "experts" say so, so it has to be true.

This is the key to building a sustainable program. Bring in kids that will work, even when no one is looking, and make it the culture.
I'm excited to have Tyler Beard as our next PG and I hope he can step up to the plate his first year.

Reminds a bit of Jagan Mosely, though he arrives to Georgetown with more guard skills. Hard working kid from a great high school program and family - exactly the type of player you want representing your program. Has a chance to be a fan favorite.

Great article! Hoya nation is glad to have a player like TB. Sounds really hungry and appreciative and grateful to be at Georgetown.

Wow, that is interesting. From the post it doesn't sound like he is de-commiting (although I guess that could still happen) but is just taking prep year. I don't know where Hargreaves is located. Is it near his home? Is this ab out him and his family wanting him to stay closer to home because of the virus?

Hoping the reason he's staying further from DC than some other options is that he wants to stay away from more populated areas? Not sure though

Perhaps he doesn’t want to waste a year of eligibility? Good sign he still mentions us, but the extra year definitely adds heightened uncertainty of if/when he’ll truly become a Hoya.

So the Beard decision begs a lot of questions and causes some concern. Did he ever sign a LOI? And if he did, is that still valid even though he's going to prep a year? Georgetown doesn't share LOI information this anymore. The basketball office seems to pulled back on this line of information, at least publicly. Two points: 1. A person can be released from a national letter or intent (NLI) under four general circumstances: 1) the recruit was not admitted, 2) the recruit is a nonqualifier, 3) the recruit isn't attending any junior or senior college for one year, or 4) the college has has violated recruiting rules to secure the NLI. It's likely he is exercising option #3 above, but this would also apply if he didn't graduate from Whitney Young or hasn't cleared the SAT. 2. The NLI is good for four years. If he chose not to go to Georgetown in 21-22 or vice versa, Georgetown would have to release him from the letter but in almost all cases would do so.
